First of all I am not against any religion, and harbor no hard feelings toward any religion, or group of people on earth. Having that said..

As I watch the news, there is so much conflict in the world. And as I watch I seem to notice one common factor in ALMOST (although not all) conflicts in the world in recent history. (The last 20-30 years). That is the presence of ISLAM on at least one side of any given conflict. Weather it's Muslim vs Christians in Africa, or Muslims vs. Jews in Isreal, Muslims vs Hindu's in Pakistan/India, or Islamic terroists vs USA (and the west for that matter), and very often Muslim vs Muslim in the Islamic world.

I realize there are exceptions, and that I will probably get many responses below about, WWII (Christians vs Christians) , or the Crusades, the holocaust, etc. But the fact of the matter is people, nations and religions change, and for that reason I am interested in conflicts in the world TODAY, not years ago.

Your thoughts?

They are just as violent as Christianity was about 400 years ago (and earlier). Christianity is still violent (Ireland), and both religions have the problem that their adherents would like all 'non believers' to go away or die.
So, what is different? The Muslims do something about it, since they aren't allowed sex, music, movies, dancing, Playboy or any type of entertainment, they become suicide bombers.
If that's the only type of entertainment allowed and is actually encouraged by their elders? Makes sense to me.
To derail all that bull, we need to get some other entertainment to them and all of this will stop.
I was typing to some Pakistani who contacted me through yahoo, and he told me he had never even seen a naked woman. He is 24. I sent him 2 nice pictures of one, and after he expressed his appreciation about those, someone must have surprised him, because some real BS came through and we were interrupted.
haven't heard from him again. But since I don't believ in sacred cows, anyone asks me something, I'll give them the info (as long as it isn't illegal here. Don't want the morality police show up on my doorstep. ;-)
Just shows the curiosity is there, it is just very tightly controlled.

i dont think that islam is the sole reason behind the turmoil in the middle east. there is a lot of money in the middle east, a lot of land, a lot of natural resources (i know it may seem like nothing but desert and oil but the worlds fresh water supply is running out and will be turning to desalinating salt water soon; guess what area of the world is the lead producer of desalinized water). a lot of people want their hands in the pot (america, israel, the eu, the arab league) and some powerful countries influence these terrorists more than you think.

true islam is a religion of peace. period. what you see on TELEVISION (wow tv sure is a reliable source of knowledge i tell ya) is what the powers that be choose to show. on the flip side, just like in any religion, there are people who interpret their scriptures/beliefs to fit personal agendas (it definitely exists within christianity). my question to the people who have a problem with islam is why does it occupy your mind. is finding faults and reasons why other religions are "bad/evil" make you a good christian. if this is the case then christianity wouldn't be open to gentiles if people who believe something else are bad.

we also have to undestand what the true meaning of jihad is. muslims just dont declare jihad on people that aren't muslim (although there are some terrorists who have kinda nullified this argument). you can spit on them, kick them, bite them, whatever and they wont (or shouldn't) do anything. however, when a person attacks their beliefs in islam, then they will fight till the death.

but for the people who are constantly bashing islam, make sure you're living right and going to paradise before you worry about what other people of other faiths are doing.

im christian by the way

The answer is no. There are very clear guidelines within Islam on how and when it is ok for a Muslim to harm someone. In fact there are even clear guidelines in the same regard to treating animals. My suggestion to understand this better is not to use the media to get an understandign on any group of people. The media can do a great job in promoting misconnceptions of groups of people. For instance Jihad is not a holy war or a war at all. It is basically a struggle. Trying to help a friend can be a Jihad. Hope this helps.

First, I don't think Islam compels its followers to move beyond the "eye for an eye" model of justice. Second, the existence of Israel, which occupies land which Muslims believe rightfully belongs under Islamic rule, is a source of constant political tension. Third, Islam teaches its followers that war is justified to keep Islam from losing ground in the world or being oppressed. I think that all three of these factors contribute to Islam's more violent overtones.

you need to study religion, God prophesized all which is happening. God has a reason for all that is happening. to much of my knowledge God's purpose to having all the attention be on the religion of islam is for the purpose of people to be study and learn about islam which has happened many years ago no body even knew what islam was now people are reading and investigating the religion on their own /not what they see from the media!!!

ISLAM is not a violent relogion...
Pure Islam is one thing, and the politicians' ideas and actions who practice Islam (or at least pretend to practice it) is another thing. You should not mix thiese togather. There are lots of people our there who use Islam as an excuse to justufy their actions. Islam is indeed a very peaceful religion, ISLAM literary means "PEACE".

Islam is the most violent religion in the world. I am surprised that you and I are supposed to be tolerant and sit on the same table with these people and be civil to them when back in another country, they are torturing people and stealing from them

Islam has killed and killed and killed in the name of ALLAH and then we are told we have to believe in statements like all roads lead to the same GOD.

One thing is for certain. If anyone tells me I am supposed to believe that my GOD, the one I believe in, is the same GOD of the muslims, (and they can kill innocent people, rape them, take their property and then be innocent,) I am afraid for myself and my children.

I am afraid because people expect me to tolerate such human rights atrocities and be civil to these people.

That is why I have decided never to attend a public celebration where I have to be joyous in the company of muslims.

I would be forced to eat and drink with them at the same occasion, and dance and sing when they are putting a dagger in my back.

White people can do it because they are hypocrits. Black people can do it because they are hypocrits. Brown yellow green purple, whatever color race or creed of people can do it in the world.

There is one person, namely I, who will never sit in the same room with these dastardly people, eat, drink and be merry with these inhuman cruel cunning lot of so and so's.

I am shocked at this world. I am shocked at the immoral behaviour of people who behave as though this lot of people have done nothing wrong.

It seems to me that any religion that promotes violence against women and children and sees nothing wrong with the killing of innocents... and then rewards the murders with 72 virgins if they die while they are killing the innocent children and babies... is a violent religion.
