Yes, they can. I have done that many times in the past. Most people with depression dont think that it is something they did, but want to lay blame on others. Before I started taking medication I would blame my husband and anyone else who was around. It caused great stress in my life and made the depression worse. Now I take meds and see a doctor reguarly. This is something I would suggest. It has made a world of difference. It may take time but it will work. Make sure you are always honest with your doctors and invlove loved ones if you can so that they know what you are going though and it is not intentional.

Depression often alters the way a person thinks. Blaming others, denying they have a problem, and avoiding their own issues are all common in those who either are not recieving treatment or are not getting the correct treatment. But, the depressed person is still fully responsible for what they do and say, they are depressed, not insane. If you have a loved one that is doing this, insist on therapy, if they refuse, get some for yourself. It is emotionally damaging to have someone you love treat you so shabbily.

Yes not only blame but definitely lash out to those who are closest to them. The ones who do the most for them. I have seen it happen in my family and I see myself doing it too sometimes. Your mind can get so overloaded ,even though you may have caused your own situation, that you want people to react a certain way or fix things for you so you do not have to deal with any problem at all(sexual, finanicial or everyday conflicts). Yes- I have had chronic depression for 7 months.I am trying to slowly but surely find my way out. I am definitely looking at not blaming or lashing out at anyone. That is a negative reaction that will surely not help your depression!

I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CHRONIC REOCCURRING MAJOR DEPRESSION IN 1993.HOWEVER I HAVE BEEN STABLE SINCE 1997 AND NOW HAVE A WONDERFUL AND HAPPY LIFE. PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS CONDITION DO NOT NECESSARILY DEVELOP IT FROM TRAUMATIC EVENTS THAT HAVE OCCURRED IN THEIR LIVES. IT IS MAINLY CAUSED BY A CHEMICAL IMBALANCE OF THE BRAIN . WE FOR THE MOST PART DO NOT BLAME OTHERS FOR OUR CONDITION . WE TEND TO PLACE BLAME ON OURSELVES. THINKING THAT WE MUST BE AWFUL PEOPLE AND SOMEHOW DESERVE THE AGONY WE ARE GOING THRU. IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO REALIZE THAT IS ONLY THE LUCK OF THE DRAW THAT WE ARE IN THIS STATE.IT TAKES A LOT OF STRENGTH AND COURAGE TO GET BETTER AND REMAIN STABLE. I HOPE THAT ANSWERED YOU ??

At times doesn't everyone of us blame others? Try to look at your life own your own feelings and take responsibility for your own actions. Then after you feel you have done so its time for that other person to do the same.

No. I blame my problem on a disfunctional chemical in balance. That is what depression is. Some people may do that but I don't.

Yes, they do. Most times they are right.
The loved one will deny it or defend it - but the victim is most times correct about the cause.
There are therapies and medication to combat the disorder.
