I have an alphabet system that I use, and it very rarely fails me. I go from A to Z in film titles; for example : Airplane, Backdraft, Catch me if you can, etc. But to fall asleep almost instantly, I do A to Z of books. It's so difficult, that I almost never finish it. You really have to concentrate though. Think I'm going to put it into practice shortly..... hope it works for you.

There is a natural herb called valerian root that you can get at any vitamin shop or even stores such as CVS. It aids on making you fall asleep as well as maintaining a restful deep sleep :] its also fairly inexpensive and effective-I have some at home :]
another harder to find herbal supplement that can help you sleep is called kava kava-it has similar effects as the drowsiness aspect of alcohol, so at some stores you must be 18 to purchase them.
both are natural so you dont have to worry about as many side effects as otc sleeping pills but they both are known to cause a full feeling in your stomach and the kava kava, w. prolonged use, can cause similar health problems as alcohol because it also gives you the same intoxicating feel haha (theyre quite fun)
Well hopefully this helped you out and i didnt bore you too much (Iwork in a pharmacy and have studied a little on herbal supplements, so thats why i know a quite a bit about it lol)

There is a wonderful all natural supplement called GABA that is sold in health food stores. I discovered GABA when my 89 year old mother was agitated. Her doctor perscribed a daily medication that said in the list of side effects "it could be fatal in the elderly." I searched on line and found GABA. GABA is referred to as the "brain's natural calming agent." Once in awhile when mom is having a really long day we each take a 500mg capsule. It does not put you to sleep but it will slow down over-stimulation, promote relaxation and ease nervous tension so you can fall asleep naturally. Pleasant dreams!!!

try trainign your mind into thinking that bed is for sleep. Do this by only using your bed to sleep in, so no reading watching tv etc. Eventually your brain will alwasy associate bed with sleep , and you`ll nod off.

I found that putting on a film or video that you know well helps. I shut my eyes and listen to it and soon fall asleep. An audio book works well too.
