sometimes, but I hated getting stuck and It was not that bad. They are looking to see if your iron is okay. It does not hurt as much as drawing blood. Drawing blood does not hurt as much as getting a penicillin shot. I used to really worry about these apointments, but being sick and getting treated is much worse than this. The preventative stuff is much easier like check ups. Just try not to watch and try to breate ask them to tell you when they are going to stick you. Also if you sleep on a certain side ask them to give the shot in the other arm. I sleep on my right side so I always get shots in my left arm. I know it is hard, but try to relax when you are getting a shot or finger stick. Try not to wrorry about what they are going to do because every doctor is different. They may just weigh you and listen to your heart. You never know. Tell them you are nervous it is okay.

Depends on what the checkup is for.
Is it a yearly well-child exam? Maybe. Might do a blood sugar test or cholestrol.
Why don't you ask the doctor, that is the most logical answer.

they ALWAYS do.

Ive been having checkups since I was in first grade.
They have ALWAYS pricked my fingers. They do like 4 different ones for ME! urgh. but for most people they only do one finger.
