I also couldn't count as high as the 925 years that Methuselah lived. So how can we be sure that's true?

Wow, I guess mankind's inability to count high is a problem for both evolution and creationism now, isn't it?

good point!

PS: Star86, in case you haven't noticed, mortality rates have not been constant in the history of man. That blows your dumbass post out of the water.

I don't think we can be sure. Heck, if the earth is 10,000 years old who cares? What if the earth is only 6,000 years old but was made from material that is 56 billion years old? Would it really matter? To Christians and non-Christians alike, would it really make a difference in your faith or lack thereof? So the big bang caused ancient material to come together forming our galaxy.... No problem, so God brought old material together to form our earth... why not? What if the earth is younger than 6000 years? (I seriously doubt it, but what if?) I don't think we can be absolutely sure of anything.

We can't prove the age of the earth, we can't prove that God exists and we can't prove that Methuselah ever existed let alone lived as long as he did. The only source I know for Methuselah's existence is in the Bible, so who's to say it wasn't a story that got passed down through generations, growing a little with each passing year till he got that old?

I think you have a very good question. I don't think we'll ever find the answer to it though. :(

In 1999, the human population passed six billion. In 1985, it passed five billion. In 1962, it passed three billion. In 1800, it passed one billion. In 1 AD, the world's population, according to the censuses taken by the governments of that time, was only 250 million. At the current human population growth rate, considering wars and famines and all such variables, it would take approximately 5,000 years to get the current population from two original people.

p.s. you can't count to 925? that's pretty sad!

Come on now, do you mean to say you don't believe every thing you read? I was born in the fifties, but I can't remember much of those years. I trust my folks, but they're human too, they could be wrong. And their folks too! I can count to seventy, and that is exactly how many generations Jesus had to trust. Not only that, he had to trust that every seventh and every tenth generation in his family tree was significant, and the rest were...insignificant! Just place holders in God's dispensation. How marvelous he must have thought it, that He and Adam in all the world, was listed as among the seventh, and among the tenth generations. (They have that in common) Could anyone doubt such a marvelous story, written in such a credible book (except for three thousand years of oral tradition)?

I find it puzzling however, that such a well kept record started, and then ended so abrubtly. Go figure...

p.s. Hindsights 20/20...

Grace unto you and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ...

Perhaps of two (old/new) earths mentioned in the Bible, the old earth was 4000 yrs "old", and the new earth is 2000 yrs "new"; And perhaps AD of <-BC/AD-> only goes one way -> to the end already written, perhaps allegorically the end that God is light void of darkness declared from the beginning of the shew: let there be "light"[grace], not lights, nor light + darkness[grace + law]:

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

According to the bible the earth is flat, has corners, and stands on pillars as well as being only 6000 years old.

For a book that is supposed to be "truth" it sure contains many lies.

Do you know how old the dinosaur relics are?

I think dinosaur skeletons found are older than 6000 years. There fore if the dinosaurs were here more than 6000 years ago, then the earth has to be more than 6000 years old.
