Children have toileting accidents well into grade school. A three and a half year old will have accidents. They are still trying to get a feel for how the body works. They will have accidents if they are busy and don't want to stop what they are doing. They will have accidents if they can't figure out how to find a bathroom in a new place. They will have accidents if they are sick.

Children of this age may also pee their pants right in front of the toilet if they are angry at you or if they are afraid.

I wouldn't make a big deal about it. Have the child change clothes and clean up if needed. Accidents happen, and when they do, we clean them up.

I'm not really sure how to answer that question. If you suspect abuse i would look into talking to someone about it. I know my son was potty trained at 21/2 and He is three1/2, and he will still have an accident from time to time, and I know for 100% sure that there is no abuse in his life. Hope this helps a bit.

If you suspect abuse, start being VERY picky where he goes and start trying everything you can to find out if that's part or all of the problem. Get him to a doctor as soon as possible to rule out a medical condition.

It could be abuse or stress. Children often revert when there is something in their lives that they are not sure how to handle. They think that if they go back to being a certain way, the rest of life might go back to the way it used to be. Common in the case of divorce but could be other stress things too, like moving. (This is the voice of experience.)

If a child who was completely trained starts having accidents.. I would first get him checked for a bladder infection (boys do get them) and if that was negative I would talk to the doc about possible abuse. Now there could be MANY other reasons, but I would get rolling on that just because if anyone hurt my kids, well, lets just say they would NOT want to see me! Good luck!

3 and 1/2, OMG give the poor kid a break. he is new at this, and he made a mistake! they happen! Encourage him when he goes on the potty. And if you really suspect abuse then you need to remove him from whatever situation that it could be occuring in, immeditaly.

It could be a lot of things.

diabetes
abuse
urinary tract infection
stress

I would suggest that you take the child to a doctor and get a urinalysis. See what that says. Then consider an ultrasound to see if all the plumbing is working correctly.

well if you think that a child is being abused you need to stop spending time on here and go get that kid out of that situation .....
I honestly hope it isn't abuse .... if its not .... the child could have an uncontrollable bladder or he is scared of something..bring him to a doctor ..

He could still be getting used to the whole toilet thing. It is a huge step for a child to go through, and they will have some relapses. Be patient and let him learn on his own. Tell him that if he has to go pee pee to tell you and then run to the potty.

It could be diabetes...and I'm not kidding. That's how a lot of little ones are diagnosed.

get him tested for diabetes, and if that comes up negative, then don't give him so much sugar, and nothing to drink after dinner.
