The Cheesecake Factory is yummy. It's right in Oakbrook Mall, behind Marshall Field's, which will soon be Macys :(. The Clubhouse is great, also. I think the Weber people have a restaurant down 22nd street (Butterfield Rd.). At some point it's no longer Butterfield Rd, it winds. Anyway, there is also a dinner theater. I have no idea what the food is like, but if that's an atmosphere you'd like to try, it's near 355 on 22nd Street.

I love Mon Ami Gabi. Great steak. And Papagus has great food too.

This Mon Ami Gabi (other locations in Lincoln Park, Las Vegas, Bethesda) is casual yet elegant and has a certain panache that is eminently enjoyable. Then again, we are a sucker for a bistro that sports all the necessary bells (tasty soups, steak frites) and whistles (cassoulet, quality seafood). The food quality is high, the prices are reasonable, and the comfort level is pleasant. Service is right where it should be, efficient but not in your face. The all-French wine list covers a lot, and the chariot du vin (wine cart) offers an excellent selection of wines by the glass.

There are a bunch of places in Oak Brook Shopping Mall. Right in the mall there is The Clubhouse (great brunch), Wildfire (only been there for drinks, I hear it's great but expensive), Papagus (Greek and very good), Maggianos (Italian and very good) and Braxtons (seafood and one of my favorite restaurants).

Near the mall is Alexanders, which is very good and not too expensive. A mile or two west on Butterfield Road is Magnum Steakhouse, I have never been there but I hear it's good. Also on Butterfield is Buca de Beppo, a kitschy Italian chain, which is also good. They have a table in the kitchen, which is very popular. The restaurant is full of pictures of Sophia Loren showing off her assets wink wink nudge nudge.
