What you are really asking is why you like the smell of your own farts. for most of us, it's just that it doesn't really bother us. I think a better question is why the smell of farts bothers us in the first place. Little kids don't mind the smell of farts -- so we must learn to hate the smell from other people sometime in our lives. Americans have real issues with other peoples body functions in general.

I was told it was because they believe "Theirs don't stink."
Perhaps it is a pleasant interruption in a dull existence as they don robes for the next religious service; or pack their golf clubs for another tour; or lift a hock while writing a grant proposal?
