i go to 8th grade, and many of the guys are real jerks. they make jokes about me, and say rude things. im kinda pretty, i try to be as nice as i can to them, and i dont have a bad attitude. But i see the same guys checking me out sometimes and just staring at me for like a minute. whats going on here???? im really confused and depressed

Because they are trying to impress their equally idiot friends, and in the 8th grade we barely know which end of a girl is up.
Thats why they check you out when they don't think their friends are looking, because god forbid they should openly admit they like someone.
Sorry hon, Guys are stupid. We don't grow up much past that point. We just fake it a lot better. Matter of fact, I'm 32, a good friend of Mine is 27, I just set him up with another friend of Mine who was very surprised that he 'acted so different' when it was just the two of them.
I was surprised she was surprised, of course he's going to act different when its just him!

Because they are 8th grade boys and thats what 8th grade boys do! They don't know what else to do and they are afraid to look stupid in front of their friends by admitting they can actually act like human beings. Smart 8th grade girls just don't worry about it, they realize that the things they are saying are about their own stupidity and immaturity and don't really have anything to do with her at all. Nothing anyone ever says about you changes who you are. They will grow out of it, well some of them will, some of them will still be this stupid when they are 40. If anything stop being nice, it just gives them more ammunition, give them some disgusted, you aren't worthy of my time, I wouldn't bother spitting on you if you were on fire look and tell them to talk to you when they grow up! They won't know what hit them and won't bother picking on you again because they are afraid you will actually stand up to them and humiliate them in front of their friends and that is a fate worse than death for an 8th grade boy. Good luck, it gets better, no i can't really say that, they are always a pain in the butt, it does change though. It REALLY isn't worth being depressed or confused over though, don't give it that much thought.

These same guys are into you or like you but being they are so out of touch with there feelings or peer pressure or whatever it is they cant seem to just be nice, So turn to the ones that are nice and treat you right, pick the least nerdly and there you have a good friend or possible b/f. Honey - they are jerks because they are 8th graders, and really don't know any other way to act. The ones that checking you out and staring at you probably like you too, which apparently means they have to act even more like jerks.
My advice is to just keep being your nice self and ignore them. Eventually they will figure out how to treat you. if that doesn't work just tell them that they are being jerks. If they really do liek you, it will prolly shut them up. For like 5 minutes.

Why are u depressed over someone elses childish, rude, discouteous and unkind behavior. They are the ones with the issue. It sounds to me like you do need to be a little more discerning. Hang back and observe these guys behavior... You'll find that they are trippin and not worthy of your time and attention.
Be selective and don't allow anyone to have that kind of power over you and get you depressed.

First off your young nmost guys in the 8th grade are just immature.If your pretty feel confident about that.When they say that kinda rude stuff don't take it to heart unless its something you really care about or they're offending you in someway.If thats the case be sure to stand up for yourself and don't let them run all over you

It is my general scientific understanding that "boys start jerking towards a beautiful girls in only certain cases when they no longer thinks that you can be their friend"

they like u, in the 8th grade some guys are just going through changes and they are confused, theyr body is telling them that u are great but they are just trying to hide it or cover it up
