There is not a lot of difference in carbs between "lo-carb" and regular. Some low carb wines are actually higher in calories then regular. A dry Chardonnay is generally the lowest in sugar content, go with that, in moderation. Try adding 25 to 50% club soda or diet tonic water. For the most part, any alcohol drink is not conducive to weight loss, but you do have to live a bit too. If you must drink, balance this by cutting carbs/calories elsewhere.

don't worry about carbs in wine, they're neglible, a good wine between 5-30 this is a TOUGH question because there are some many reasons to choose one wine over the other, but I'll try to help.
First, what do prefer Red or White or Blush, a simple preference of one wine over another is often a great place to start, I for example only like Red.
Are you having a meal with your wine or just enjoying it by itself, certain wines stand alone fine but others are much better with meals.
If you are having a meal, what are you having? The rule of thumb is chicken and fish go with white wine and reds go with steak. (again, I drink red with everything)
Do you like dry wines or fruity wines?
i'll give you a few that should be readily available at a local supermarket
Mondavi Coastal Cabernet (2004-2005)- Cheap for a Californian cab (mostly because Mondavi has been in the buisness so long he has mastered growing the cabernet grape) a dry full bodied Red with hints of kurrant and walnuts and oak.
Etude Pinot Noir (2003)- a delicious red with fruity aromas
Kendall Jackson Chardonay- a pleasant white reminds me of pears and apples very crisp finish
Ruffino Chianti Classica 2004- one of my favs nice character dry red for a great price
A good cheap wine is Barefoot California Table Wine (under 10) it's a generic (meaning it's made from a mixture of different grapes instead of just one varietal like Pinot or Merlot)
Reisling is a white that is popular with many novice wine drinkers since it's sweet (like champagne) and very palatable
The best advice if to look around, ask questions and get a book such as the wine bible there is SOOO much to know about wines. Hopefully you will learn to love them as I do.

It'd be a wine with less sugar than the average wine. I've had a few of these low-carb wines and they're awful. I'd stick to the regular wine and just drink less. At least you'll enjoy it. If you're trying to lose weight then I'd recommend not drinking at all, but if you must, just cut down on consumption.

There is no such thing as a "low-carb" wine. Wine, like all alcoholic drinks is made through the fermentation of simple and complex sugars, which are carbohydrates themselves. It is literally impossible to have an alcoholic drink that is "low carb" unless it is "low" alcohol, or watered down. You could always water down your wine or mix it with fruit juice.
