you betcha!!! Let's make a scenario. Bobby: he lives with both of his parents. His mom helps him with his school work and makes sure he does it. His dad works hard and has always providing the meal on the table. They make sure that Bobby is in bed at 8:00pm. Cindy: her parents are divorced and she spends every other week with mom/dad many times not having her materials at the right house. Mom works a lot to make ends meet and leaves Cindy with her older brother. Many times Cindy gets in bed at 11:00 pm after she sees mom came home from work. At her dad's she is beaten. He is an alcholholic (or however you spell it) If he is at the bar too late, Cindy doesnt get dinner. Next day at school: Bobby is prepared with his homework along with a good night's rest and full belly. By his mom helping him with the homework he has learned that school is important. Cindy: is more worried about if she will get fed tonight, she is tired, is not prepared, and has not been taught the importance of school. (I hope someone will be checking your spelling and grammar!!!)

one would probably say it shouldn't but in actuallity it does... if children are in an environment where they aren't encouraged to succedde and given positive feed back when they do.. they tend to do what they've always been taught.
