For a career as a cop in the civilian world, which military branch would be best to join as a police officer?

i would have to say none. i am an airforce cop and they treat us like crap... always training, long hours, always TDY to the dessert, divorce rates at 90%, always working holidays, weekends, and no over time. Man it sounds like crap huh??? well just imagine what the other branches are like???????

All of the services (except the Marines I think) have their own internal police units. Any of these would work. Talk to a recruiter to find the job most like the one you would want to do in the civilian world. Don't forget to check out the Coast Guard, a lot of what they do is essentially police work.

I know a lot of MP's in the Army and they all hate it..they work some of the longest housr and a lot of times they do weird jobs that dont even pertain to being a cop...if I were you I would just join a police academy. The streets of America are filled with crime..i would say if you want to be a soldier..the streets in America need good soldiers too. BE A PROUD AMERICAN . God bless you and God speed

well for your self to get broke in to protect yourself for the rest of your life any. But when you go to the civilian side you will still have to go to a academey no matter what. even changing from state to state, no matter how long you have served in the military. same with any aircraft pilot,mechanic the service dont matter. still have to go get certified .
