No one can count to a billion, so how is it that we know the stars are billions of light years away?

Wow, great answers, people. Maybe *you* can't count to a billion, but I'm sure it can be done. And science and religion aren't separate. Read some Einstein and see what he said about how religion and science are linked.

Now, as to your link between earth and stars--um, that doesn't make the earth young or old. If the stars were around before the planets, then the light could be older than the planets. Stars and planets could be formed at different times, so that's not a reliable way to assign relative dates to heavenly bodies. That said, no, I don't think the earth is 6,000 years old and that idea is stupid and unfounded--it's just fuzzy math, and why would you believe fuzzy math about the planet? It was just some guy that made some "calculations" about how old the earth is based on some spurious historical reckoning. People need to stop focusing on the religious beginning and end of the earth and focus on what's happening right now. The earth showed up a long time ago. A really long time ago. What does that have to do with your life today?

Anyway, I don't see how people can see scientific proof and say, oh, well, demons planted dinosaur bones, and God made the earth look like it was a lot older and he faked out the whole carbon-dating system. Whatever. It's called Occam's Razor, people--the simplest answer is usually right. So why are you complicating things with your insane theories? Get off the whole earth-creation-conspiracy-theory tack. I'm not anti-God or anything, but I don't believe the 6,000 year old earth idea because it was devised by some fallible human and why should I believe some random shmuck who wasn't any good at math?

>> Does anyone still support the idea of a young Earth, and are you freakin' crazy?
Only ignorant people, stupid people, and Last-Thursdayists support Young Earth Creationism.

I am freakin' crazy, but not for this reason. LOL.

>> starlight from stars billions of light-years way reaching us...explain.???
The obvious explanation is that the universe is billions of years old. Last-Thursdayists believe that the light was created en route.

I doubt that the Earth has been around as long as some think it has. I am also inclined to accept the truth as taught by the Church over the truth as taught by modern academia.

However, I personally ascribe much more than 10000 years to the life of this planet due to the large amount of strong scientific evidence supporting such a stance.

That all being said, I hardly feel that believing in a young Earth justifies the slander of being called insane. Some people simply do not understand the science behind dating the planet and so rely on their best understanding of God's word for an answer. Such reliance on Scripture or Church teaching is not "crazy"; it is faithful.

Oh, this is a good one. Already asked, and the answer given was that the speed of light was slowing down. But, the only reference anyone could give for that was theist websites... no one that refuted this evidence linked to any site that was neutral, and the entire argument was weak even from the theist sites listed.

Edit... no one can count to a billion, so how do we know something is a billion light years away? Okay, stick a fork in me, I've now had my quota of laughs for the day.

.... oh... oh no.... no you didn't just really... yeah ya did. I'm flabbergasted. Truly. This is an actual argument to you...? You know what? I don't even know where to begin... but I don't have to. Anyone that I even care whether or not they understand what is horribly wrong with this statement will see it for themselves. This is idiocy that needs no explanation.

Oh sweet Buddha on a pogo stick! Your name is supposed to mean math teacher isn't it?! Oh this just gets worse and worse...

Grace unto "you", and (thereby) peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

How l-o-n-g a biblical shew(allegory, mystery) would you like? What would you like? Another millennium of vengeance upon those who don't support yer law law beliefs? And if all the KofG is "within you", well then, it kinda depends on "you" just how l-o-n-g-suffering the Lord has to be with ye, to have the God shew end as written (even declared from the beginning of the shew). For the "you all" in "the end" notably begins with "you", and whatever "you" decide applies to "all" the kingdom of God within "you".

The God of all grace make "you" perfect,
after ye(do err) suffer awhile (in law law).

Perhaps it's a before/after shew about ye/"you".
Perhaps you is what's "made" free by kNOWing.
(ye shall know the truth... shall make "you" free)

Perhaps terrestial and celestial stars have different glories. Pehaps the stars you see only at night are chained in darkness, awaiting either salvation of all, or horeb-bull judgment, depending on what you decide for all within you. Hint: the end (declared from the beginning) is already written:

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with "you" all. Amen.

We don't believe God is a slave to time like we are. When He created things, He created them with life already in them. Mountains were already mountains, stars where already stars, man was already mature. Now, The Bible says "In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth. And the Spirit houvered over the deep...." THAT day, I believe to have been any amount of time, may have been 24 hours, may have been an eternity, but the heavens and earth were there for however long it was.

It is impossible to scientifically support a young earth without say, "Isn't it possible that God magically" or "Well what if the earth mysteriously"

Creationists think evolution underminds the bible. It doesn't. The Bible isn't a textbook, it's a spiritual tome. It isn't supposed to be scientifically accurate. It was written by people 20,000 years ago!

Resurrectionist (edit: and a couple others) beat me to it.

No science.
No math.

In Florida, there is a move to do away with history.

The internet has done way with proper grammar.

What's the point in having public education anymore?

"Buddha on a pogo stick." That made me laugh.

Sorry for not addressing your question, bc_munkee.
