No. The few rich and educated zealots over there will not let them learn to read and write, so they have to take the word of what is told to them by the religious idiots.

Be honest i never have a chance to read entire Holly BIBLE, but from lots of other people i heard that its a merge of couple of books, and about Holly QURAN every Muslim must have to read it Completely at least once in their life, and up til now how its so pure remain pure because lots Muslim learnt that by heart, like they can read with looking at it, its called Hafiz, that's how no body can change a single word in it and all Muslim believe that what ever in Holly BIBLE its true, because its a Holly Book, came from the GOD, by Messenger of GOD, and after those 4 Holly books QURAN is the Last Book From ALLAH, and series of Prophets Of GOD is finished after Holly Prophet MOHAMMAD (p-b-u-h) And QURAN is the last book, so what ever is in Holly BIBLE Muslims are agreed, and respect of Jesus Christ, and Jewish are also Followers 1 of those 4 Holly Books .

I haven't read the whole bible, mostly genesis and other chapters.
As to the quran i have read it several times. I find that islam answers a lot of question christians have about christianity. As to any 'contradictions you might find' please forward me your concerns if i can i will try and shed some light on them. i have looked at websites raising the issues of contradiction but i could answer them using other verses or hadeeth. Note a contradiction is two verses that are irreconcilable. For instance if i told you i went to school today, and later i told you i went to my freinds house.. it could just as well be that i went to school and then to my friends house. on the other hand if i said i went to school and then later i said i didn't go out.. that would be a contradiction.
To Miriam:
The is no verse that says shut the women stay in their homes.. so i would suggest you read it again.
Secondly, as to the infant that is in regards to Female infant that the pagans used to burry alive because they were a disgrace to the pagans. What god is saying is on the day of judgement he will question all those who bury their infant.. ie.. the plaintiff will be the infant and she will give her account of the story even though god knows better and the defendant will give his\her account of the story. Hence there will be justice on that day.

I have read many parts of the bible, and I watch "Church of the Rock" on sundays. It's not easy to read, but we both preach the same message: Peace, worship God, do good deeds, forgive others, strengthen family ties...
Some of the differences though between the Qur'an and the Bible is of course the Trinity notion, which to me seems to only have been mentioned explicitly in the new testament (e.g. like by Paul). Moreover, the Bible is more abstract in its teachings than the Qur'an. The Qur'an is usually all straight forward.
I also found a lot of contradictions, but again, there is no denying that Christians preach good and love. In some instances, I found hard to believe that Christians could accept such degrading stories about the prophets: like how Lot offered his 2 dauhgters for the men of Sodom, how according to Chrisitians, Lot's 2 daughters slept with him while he was drunk, how the son of Noah slept with his mother...
and I guess another difference between our books is that ours talks about war more explicitly (i.e. why sometimes it is necessary): but that's only because our prophet was persecuted, hurt, and almost killed on serveral occasions by the pagan arabs while Jesus was only sent for a few years (and according to you died very early after he started preaching). Of course, like many uninformed Muslims, non-Muslims take those verses of war and misinterpret them because they ignore their historical context. So i've probaly misinterpreted some biblical verses too. One day, I'll do a more in-depth study of the bible and its background, hopefully you ll do the same for the Qur'an.

yes, i am muslim. i am readin the Bible
i am readin the old testimony now. we already believe in the Torah and the Injil (Bible). so nothing wrong from reading.
the torah = speak of the prophets life and ancient life in details
the Bible = speak about the teaching and some details
the Quran = strong deep words in short sentence. that just straight to the point and hit it on its nails.
Islam is truly the last religion of God. i like the Bible, some of the chapters in the Bible talks about prophet life in details.

I have read the whole old testament, did not get to finish the whole new testament.
Not sure what to make of it yet. I was told that lot of stuff is up for interpretations, it's not plain, simple & direct.
so reading on my own not sure how much I can make sense of it..
especially the question I had was about trinity and reading the bible did not help, maybe I will change my mind when I finish it.

I do not desire to generalize....however it's precise, from my enjoy, that the majority Muslims realize the Quran larger than such a lot Christians realize the Bible. a few Muslims realize the Bible larger than a few Christians. in the course of Ramadan Muslims are meant to learn the complete Quran. plenty of Muslims of all ages, female and male, memorize the complete Quran and will recite it (in Arabic).

Kjv preaches trinity in 1 John 5:7 ,
Rsv and other bibles like good news, niv, has deleted this verse. and this verse is the only one which preaches trinity. so there is a differences in bible. and after finding these, it made my faith in quran more stronger, because quran rightly says that earlier scriptures has been corrupted and changed with the passage of time.. regarding contradictions in the quran, there is none, even one contradiction is enough to prove quran wrong. send me your misconceptions about these contradictions, i will inshallah send you satisfactory answers. these so-called contradictions are the lack of understanding and knowledge of scripture. e.g. in one place quran says that man is created from dust, and in other place it says that man is created from water. it is not a contradiction, its contradistinction. man is created from both, water and dust. e..g tea is made from water and milk , and sugar, .etc.
"Do they not consider the Qur'an (with care)? Had it been from other Than Allah, they would surely have found therein Much discrepancy." [Al-Qur’an 4:82]
