Train him to come back by calling him from time time and rewarding him with small food treats. Some dogs need a lot of exercise. Go running or walking with him every chance you get. He will be more settled and you will be fitter as well.

Actually that is not uncommon. Sounds like your dog needs A LOT of exercise and training. Make sure he gets it. Keep him safe on a leash unless he is in a fenced area--if he runs off, he could be lost, hit by a car, or attacked by another dog. Good luck!

Well, you didn't mention what kind of dog it is. But, it sounds like it needs a lot of exercise. My dog stays by my side all the time (I never have to use a leash anymore) because she was NEVER off a leash outside the house for the first six months. She never strays. Read this book for more help, it is great!

Two words for ya babe, obedience school.
It teaches you how to train your dog without driving you both nuts.
Petsmart has a good program. So do most cities.

Take him somewhere fenced in and let him run, That calmed down our dog a bunch.
