Look for one of those corner used-to-be-a-7-11 car lots. Some will not gouge you too bad. Check around first.

You know the answer --- don't you? Trading in for more problems will NOT offset fuel prices, dummy. If the SUV were paid for the high cost of gas would be NOTHING compared to car payments, especially if you don't roll negative equity into another stupid car!! But I can already tell that is exactly what you are going to do. Just sell it, make a deal with the bank to carry the difference on a loan then PAY that off ASAP! You can drive a beater until you are free from the car payments, then it will be easy to save up about $6K for a decent used PAID for car. PS -- irishtek is a mental case. Why am I wasting my time?

The only way you can help your credit is to pay your debts and pay your bills on time for a few years. Unfortunately, the damage is already done if your credit is poor. Some people will take your trade in and you could get a SUV but your payments will be higher because of the poor credit.

Do you have a rich uncle? Family & friends won't ask about your credit but can make you pay a horribly high personal price; sometimes too high.

Now if a business loans money they are going to run a credit check. There are places that will still loan you money without a great credit record, but you'll just pay higher interest rates. Have you tried e-loans.com? I think they try to be helpful even if you don't have perfect credit. Good Luck!

Unless you're paying cash, anyone you apply for credit with is going to do a credit check. If your credit is bad, you will either be denied or charged a huge amount of interest.

You are probably thinking that an SUV is safer.
But actually, SUV's have been shown to be less safe in emergency situations, as they have a tendency to roll.

You don't want your baby's head crushed in a roll, do you?

If your credit is poor, you probably don't have money to burn.
But needlessly buying an SUV, is the same as burning money.
The bad gas mileage, the extra cost for plates, the taxes due when buying it, the higher insurance rates...etc.

You would be money ahead to keep your car, and use the money you save for not buying in to the SUV hysteria, toward your child's future.

Otherwise, if your credit is poor, you will end up paying a much higher interest rate on a loan. Money you could be putting toward your child's in the way of healthy food, educational toys and books, college fund, health care and research on how to raise a well balanced child.

Happy parenting.

Uhm, you have a baby on the way so therefore you need an SUV? That's retarded.

Here's a clue: Your credit is bad because you have trouble paying your bills. You have a car that shouldn't be that expensive to drive, but yet you want one that is even MORE expensive plus will cost you an arm and a leg to drive. In addition, you would end up financing 3-6k (at least) of negative equity, in otherwords you'd be paying $75 - 150 bucks PER MONTH for 6 years!!!! on a car YOU DON"T EVEN DRIVE ANYMORE!!!!!

That's financial suicide!!!

Now why? Do you think an SUV is safer? IT"S NOT! Your chance of rolling the vehicle over completly cancels out ANY safety you'd have for being in a larger vehicle.

The best thing you can do is to get your credit situation in shape. Your baby will be going in to the 1st grade in 6 years. If you get your shi t together STARTING NOW, in 6 years there is a chance that you will be dropping that beautiful baby off at school in a BRAND NEW car/SUV whatever!!!!

Or maybe he/she can bring over their friends afterschool in your HOME that you aren't renting!!! But you have to start NOW.

The American dream is not handed out, it is earned through blood, sweat, and tears!

A family member...Most dealers won't touch you unless they get to see your credit.
