By "mad" I am assuming the cat is not just "angry" but acting erratic and maybe frothing at the mouth. If this is the case, call your city or county animal control officer and have them to use the right equipment, there as to not endanger yourself. If the cat is just angry, and I know they get that way, I have two, go to your local hardware store and get a"Hav-A-Hart" trap large enough for your cat.Use a bait that has a strong oder. When the cat enters the trap it will slam shut, not hurting the cat. It has a handle to protect you further.

With a cunning trap. I suggest you put a dead mouse on a pressure pad, once the cat stands on it it will cause a 10 tonne safe to drop on it thus making it very easy to catch. Also will take up less space as will be only 2mm thick!!
Or
Flood your house and the cat will naturally go away from the water and then you can corner it and catch it easily.

Why would you want to catch a mad cat?
If you really do decide to you got some pretty good answers already so i won't repeat them. Recomend the blanket and thick glove thing though.
Good luck!

Gain the cats trust and it will just walk up to you. You do that by feeding it and not trying to catch it. Eventually it will let you touch it but not pick it up. Keep feeding it and it will let you do just about anything. Then just pick it up and take it hopefully to the local No Kill Animal Shelter.

if you are smart you will leave it alone. A wild, angry or upset cat is just as harmful as the meanest biggest dog you can imagine. So, let kitty cool down and come to you on his own terms, or you will be bloody by the time it's over

Act like you don't care about it, wait a few minutes, then go to the kitchen and open a can of tuna. The cat will magically appear.

Sit down on the couch and call its name, dont sound angry, just sound calm.
If that doesnt work, go shake its food bag/bowl or open a can of cat food.

if you are worried about getting clawed or bitten.. use a towel. that helps. try luring your cat out with some yummy wet food, treats, a cool toy, cat nip... or the lazer pointer always gets my kitten
