Believe that the metal rack you are referring to is either not metal or treated , either way if it wasn't you would hear snap crackle and POP.
There probably is metal you can use or at least have metal properties, but unless it states that it is safe to use in a microwave. I would refrain from doing so.

The metal used as racks in microwaves are not made of the type of metal that is damaging to microwave.
