i broke up with him because last year my grades went down i really like him but i need 2 keep my grades up this year, i felt guilty because i really think i broke his heart.

Absolutly , I hate to sound materialistic but somehow the destiny is programed to judge us on worldly choices , like degrees, money and career. so be the best at what is required right now from you (school) ......... once you are 24 /25 and on the right chances of running into a smart , educated guy is very high,

If you were my daughter (or grand daughter) I'd be very, very proud of you for keeping your priorities straight. His heart will mend. Your grades, once they are down, won't. Good for you.

If you told him why, then yes....... you did the right thing. Focus on your schooling that way you can take care of yourself later on.
