Oh that can be anywhere!!
I have insurance, and I had one the 1st time I had cancer, and then the 2nd time I had a diff one. They paid 80%, but still out of pocket, and the meds at the pharm out of pocket. It was insane. I did get help at the hospital, where they helped pay 80% of our out pocket so it helped.
My first round of chemo I had, I had it for 4 1/2 mos, every 3 weeks, and it was $35,000 a pop for chemo alone. Then I had the dr visits, and pharm meds too.
The 2nd the chemo cost $11,000, every 3 weeks for 6 1/2 mos.
Now remember, insurance did pay a lot of that, but still.
Good luck to you or anyone that has to deal with that.
ruredy1821, sorry to hear about your loss :( I lost my mum too 11yrs ago.
Good luck and keep on kickin' cancer's butt my fellow survivors!

The cost of chemotherapy can vary widely. Older drugs, such as 5-FU, can cost mere cents and newer agents, such as cetuximab, can cost as much as ten thousand dollars per MONTH. In addition to that, the oncologist will charge a fee for administering the drug. Cost of therapy should not be a reason for not seeking therapy. There are patient assistance programs for those who cannot afford it and physicians can choose a therapy will that cost less.

Varies, depending on the therapy. Some of the drugs involved are very expensive. I had a course of treatment that ran about $7000 a week for 18 weeks. Crappy insurance left me with most of the bill, but the clinic was able to get some of the most expensive meds donated, which took care of most of it.
