at things like Nintendo and basketball. They're still young, so I let them "win," but do think it's time to bring the whoop-a/s/s.

I still beat my kids. It makes them work harder in school and at getting things done. I think that if you let a child win, it gives them the idea that they should always win. When my oldest son (now 20) finally beat me at a game, the look he had on his face was priceless. I wouldn't trade that happiness he had for any amount of money. He is now in college studying nucleur physics. I am very proud of him.

I beat my kids all the time at games. I mix it up a bit because they need to learn to lose and win gracefully. Mine are 6 and 4 and most of the time I let them win, although sometimes they would win anyhow. It is good to teach them how to win and lose at an early age. People that don't keep score aren't helping their children become adults.

Try winning one time and see how they react. Kids should always learn early how to be gracious losers. I wouldn't beat them at games all the time because you have an unfair advantage. Try beating them at the games a couple times and when/if they become upset, explain to them that it's not about winning, it about having fun...they should be gracious losers because they can't win everything, etc. You know, all those cliches!

Funny question, too by the way. Prepare for an onslought of angry answerers who don't know how to read an entire question before answering.

Once they have the ability to take criticism without crying, then they have the ability to be beaten without being a sore loser or losing their self-esteem. Each child is different, so be very careful and observant. But you do need to show them that they can't win everything or they'll grow up thinking they're invincible and they'll be in for a very hard lesson as adults.

I'm going with, It depends on there age. Some younger kids cant take the fact of a lose. Specially when some parents want and need to rub it in. I think 13 depending on maturity is a good time to kick some a$$...lol....Have fun!

They have to learn sometime. We had an issue w/ our son having to win all the time and he would get pi#%ed of when we won instead of him. His dad played the game allowing him to win all of the time but by the age of 7-8 he stopped, otherwise he would still think at almost 11 he has to win. He has learned with many losses how to become a winner and he and his dad have Pokemon battles all of the time and my husband now gets mad his beets him for real! It is a lot more fun for them now he learn you have to play hard to win.

You should win sometimes, just to show them that they aren't always going to win. If you let them win all the time then they are going to get older and think they will win all the time, and when they don't they may get pissed/throw tantrums, etc.

LOL I like your attention getting question! Unfortunately I never had this problem in the video game department, it seems like they were born to play those!! As far as the other games, like cards, if they were old enough to understand the rules and play the game then they were old enough to learn good sportsmanship which includes losing. Just make sure you don't rub it in that you won. It is a game after all.
