i don't know about a store bought marinade, but what i do when i make short ribs is: i prepare them in the slow cooker (crock pot). i mix 1 1/4c. of BBQ sauce (anyflavor, but i perfer a bold, scipy flavor) with i can of beer, any brand. then i add one small white onion chopped (can be ommited if you don't like onion, but i find it adds sweetness to the sauce). pour over ribs in slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours (good for if you put it on before leaving for work, when you come home it's done)
the sauce doesn't come out super thick b/c you thinned the BBQ sauce with the beer, but you find it's all infused into the meat itself instead of a gloppy, messy sauce

It doesn't matter if the marinade is 'made for' beef ribs. It's all the same. I got some that is a set of powder and liquid marinade...it is really good. Also, Jack Daniels has a marinade that is awesome on anything.

Why do you need store bought?
I just use a can of coke and some cayanne, salt, pepper and garlic salt. You can use cherry coke too.
Let it sit in the marinade for at least 2 hours.
