There are talented people on this show, but however the rules take away the true meaning of martial arts.

Its a pretty good show but some concepts make it unfair tho...like instead of having the top 4 they should have the top 2 girls n the top 2 guys and also in my opinion the challenges and fights are not that fair but its a decent show...

I watched the first 2 weeks and then out MTV2 station went off the air (and I don't have MTV)
I think its a good idea for a show but I agree that there is a lot they should change. One problem I have is that a martial artist studying a grappling style has no chance to win because of all the points awarded in sparring from kicking and punching. Also to give someone over 6ft tall the same target as someone under 5ft isn't fair and doesnt have anything to do with martial arts ability.

i've been waiting for someone to ask this.. i knew it'd happen sooner or later..

final fu, well, at first i was really excited, a show about martial arts w/ernie reyes jr., finally something worth watching...............

yeah......

well, i do like the concept. the obstacle challenges are fun to watch, but the fights are extremely disappointing..
i come from the mma world and watching the matches in the final fu are like watching bad tae kwon do bouts. is it me or do they look really together when they're warming up, on the 30 second shots of their form demos, w/black belt kicks and technique... then when they step on the mat they look like complete amatures (that's why mid-full contact sparring is extremely important) they loose all technique and just throw loopy punches and sad kicks.... it's very disappointing...

and another thing, what's with the gender biasness? the guys on guys can go full force on each other but as soon as it's a guy and girl bout it's 'watch your control' .... what's that? i mean, if she's tough enough to be on the show she can surely take the punishment, she's a black belt right..?

but although there are things i dislike about the show, hey it is about martial arts (in its own way) and i support it, there should be more shows regard the arts, ever weekend we put up with baseball on every channel and every other channel there's golf.. i'll take a sorry show regarding martial arts any day... i just wish networks would realize that there's a big audience out there for this sort of stuff.. at least spiketv gets it.. hopefully the rest will fall in line...

I like the show but you have to take it for what it's worth- I mean it's meant to entertain you not to teach you the true meaning of martial arts.

I think the idea of the show is really cool. The way it was executed was poor in my opinion. The rules make it lame and it is soooo hokey. Cheesy. The host doesn't even seem to know what he's talking about. The last time I watched, he told both fighters different strategies to beat the other one, but showed them both the same move.

i love this show. Ernie Reyes Jr a true martial arts legend.

the way it's being presented is possibly just for television since it could be quite violent and dangerous, MTV probably doesn't want anyone imitating what they see and getting sued, so they try and present it in another way.
hope this trend continues as they are doing with boxing.

The Concept is OK, the fights are very disappointing. I can't believe they are Black Belts. Lots of fancy moves but no basic understanding of the techniques and poor execution in sparring match. Black means that you have mastered the basics, at least in our school.

Don't they test for their Black Belts? Or do they gets their Blacks by able to do fancy kicks and fancy forms? Don't they have to spar (like full contact)? when they test? They should hold the same standard for the men's and the women's. Flashy jump kick are nice to look at, but don't work in a real fight! at least, for me.

As for the rules, there are all kinds of sparring, if any Back Belts holds any water, they SHOULD be able to adjust to any fighting environment.

Final Fu looks way too corny for an MTV program its going to be a one season wonder.

i take karate and i compete and everything, but like u i dont like the rules and it really isn't realistic. i guess what they r tryin to do with making martial arts main stream or whatever is good but that's not how it really is.
