As i read it, he is a angel who refuses to bow for Adam. Is this the moment evil springs forth according to the Qu'ran? If so, is Iblis a fallen angel from that moment on, or wasn't he an angel after all but a Jinn?

Iblis was not an Angel , we deal with his as the devil. when angels were ordered to bow for Adam he was there cause he was at heaven before he disobey Allah's order. but he wasn't an angel cause angels were made of light but Iblis was made of fire And Qu'ran say this

You're quite right. Supposedly an angel who refused Allah's command to bow before Adam. But what has always puzzled me is that everything is supposedly pre-ordained by Allah, so Iblis's refusal must've been too ?! So why blame the poor bloke for disobeying and thence being cast away and blamed for all Evil?

No he is not an angel but he is the father of devils as Adam was the father of humans. Angels were created from light, Jinn from fire, and humans from mud.

from what i know, iblis is devil, the first devil, the fallen angel because he refuses to bow to adam. Jinn is like human beings that walk among us but we cannot see them but they can see us. something like ghosts
