I don't mind spending my points on a question like this...I have enough to spare.... Does anyone actually realize that there are people on here who truly are asking for help and advice. When someone wants to die...don't tell them to commit suicide. Are you absolutely crazy? When someone has a genuine question about sex, you make fun of them for their lack of sexual understanding? Are you just cruel?
I realize not everyone is like that, but why are some of you so intentionally mean?
Critically inappropriate answers and name calling will only get you reported by me and the other people who are here to seek/give help.

I totally agree with the younger people and the others being immature....I like to have fun too
As to the question mark I used....typo....there isn't exactly a "statements board"

I totally agree with you, I think alot of it comes from the maturity level of each individual. Some people think because they are hiding behind an avatar, they can be mean and give inappropriate advise. I wish this wasn't the case, but I have seen it happen again and again. People don't realize that this may be the only opportunity to save someone who wants to commit suicide, believe me you don't get to many chances, I know, my wife committed suicide and if only she had reach out to get help, she might still be here. It would be extremely upsetting if she would have reached out and people told her to do it because they think it is funny. I just hope people think before they answer some of these more life changing questions. Somebodies life may truly be in there hands... Thanks for your question, and have a great day!!!

I agree with you...there are many here who don't treat the obviously genuine questions with the sobriety they deserve.
The mean ones probably have really sucky lives, since they seem to need to tear others down instead of try to give them a hand up.
Many just want the points, which is kind of weird if you think about it... a Best Answer gets 10 points... Looks like they would go for the12 point total per answer instead of frittering off with their psychic enema all over the Q&A!

Thanks Randi. Not everyone really looks at the questions in front of them. Some people are actually looking for help and bad answers can actually hurt. Some questions are dumb and then either a dumb answer or no answer is perfectly appropriate, but READ THE QUESTION as best you can to tell the difference. Not you, Randi. You already know. I'm just trying to help you get the word out. And thanks for trying to make a difference. I have been guilty of a few inappropriate answers, but I'll be more careful in the future.

This is the internet, not group therapy. I give advice to those people that ask about something to which I have knowledge or experience. Just because I give advice doesn't mean the asker has to take it. If a person is seriously going to commit suicide then they wouldn't be advertising it all over the world. They just want people to feel sorry for them and I'm just not going to do it and if anyone thinks that I don't know what it's like to be that depressed, I do. I attempted suicide when I was 16 yrs. old. Luckily for me it didn't work. I didn't tell anyone about it because I knew they would try and stop me. I wasn't looking for sympathy, I just wanted out. I got over my problem all by myself, I didn't go crying to a therapist. I don't give sympathy to whiners. Now, if you want to report me for disagreeing with you or being too direct, go right ahead.

I personally think that if you have questions like that, this site is the ABSOLUTE last place to look. There are so many better options available then hoping some random person will be able to help.
As an FYI, I don't believe I personally give mean answers. However, some, if not most, of my answers would be considered smartass-ish (I love making up words). I do that because it is fun, and I am not trying to be mean.

You make a great point, but this isn't really a question.
And while there are many people who are asking serious questions, the majority of the questions I see seem senseless.
I simply responded to your "question" b/c we all need to be careful how we respond to others, you never know when the things you say can affect another person

I answer both silly and none silly questions. The silly ones are fun. If I have something truly relevant to tell someone with a serious question then I answer to the best of my knowledge. You are correct that people need to make a better distinction of the two.

Not everyone has learned that the best pleasures in life involve helping others...still, keep up the good attitude and use it every single day of your life, in every situation, not only in this page.....that's what makes a difference, even if it is with one person at a time.....people don't know, but just a simple smile or pleasureable comment can change a person's bad mood, attitude or day....so keep it up!!! :)

Good point. I don't ask questions unless I truly want an answer. When I answer other people's questions, I try to answer to the best of my abilities or if I feel uncomfortable answering a question I will move on to another.

Way to go, Randi!
Let's speak out for the value of this site, and discourage the types of conduct that you mention.
It's a sure sign that some people lack an appreciation of community or common purpose, and a sad comment about our times.
I only hope we can learn from this!
