Of course I wouldn't want to go to hell, but I'm still an atheist. It's not really a fair question. Standing by atheism in the question can only lead to eternal damnation, which by our beliefs would not be the case, or nothing. And it's much easier to go with the first answer, the one with no reprecussions and the only possible benefit.
Also, I support the presentation of Pascal's wager above, but I disagree with some manners in which it was argued. The main principles behind it are logically sound though.

I've heard this one before, so let me see if I can pose it to you in terms that we can both understand:
If I called your house and said that I represent a mafia don who is unhappy with you and wants you to do whatever I say or he will kill you, would you (A) give up your freedom for the rest of your life just in case I am telling the truth? Or (B) consider that this is a pretty far fetched story and go on with your life?
I am a good person and do good things. If that's not enough for God, then he doesn't deserve my worship anyway. My beliefs and my thoughts are my own.

I would rather be aware that God is not the cruel and unjust deity who would have created a hell ... who would have been so stupid as to not know about "Lucifer" ... who didn't know that the earth was round and revolved around the sun ... I would rather honor God as the architect of the Cosmos, whose truths shine through science and discovery, who is non judgmental, infinite and eternal. I'd rather not insult God by limiting God's identity to the biblical "Jehovah".

Wow, that's the first time I've ever heard that argument. I think I'll be a believer now
Get serious and don't bring that simple minded psuedo logic around here. It doesn't work on anyone who makes up their mind based on real logic and facts.
I'm not going to believe in something because I'm afraid

Even if I go to hell, it will be for being true to myself. Proclaiming false faith may get me into heaven, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself on earth.

So....you believe in God....just in case?
This is what happens when people try to mix logic and faith. Sigh.

Pascal's wager... again... and it's flawed. Take a look:
