If you like a lot of morbid violence in your stories you should read the Bible since it has plenty of it.

I use a New Jerusalem Bible that is nice and easy to read, but doesn't talk down to you. It also has helpful footnotes, which I use all the time. It seems that every time I go 'I don't get that,' there's a little footnote explaining it perfectly. I highly recommend it. Also, I would warn against 'teen Bibles.' I know, I've had one, and it's completely aggravating. It makes me feel like they think I'm six and don't know anything. It also has these insets that are of the 'Now What Have We Learned From This Story?' or the 'How Does This Pertain to You in Your Life?' variety. If you'd like to look at different Bibles and see how they compare, then try this website: biblegateway.com . It allows you to look up passages in many different versions of the Bible. You can see which you like best and find easiest to read.

There is a wonderful New Testament I got my daughter that is designed for teenage girls. It is available at most Christian Book stores (at least where I live) It is called Revolve and it is laid out in magazine format. It has the entire New Testament with interesting side bars (side bar examples are Bible Bio's, Blab (which is question and answers, and example is Q. How can we not be part of the world and keep ourselves holy from them but at the same time show them Christ's love and light? these are typical questions and then they are answered, there are Bible Basics side bars, Radical Faith side bars, style questions, relationship questions etc.) It is also full of stylish (yet modest) pictures. My daughter love its and has read through almost all of Luke in just a few month. I also like the layout and find the sidebars interesting. The Bible version is NCV.

Yes, there is a teen study Bible. It is the New International Version and help teenagers answer difficult questions based on the Bible.Take a look at it. It is worth the reading and as a parent I find myself drawn to it and wish that I had something like this went I was a teenager. You can probably find a copy at any Barnes and Nobles or other bookstore or at a Christian bookstore. Good Luck and good bless

You mean that don't include the R rated material (incest, murder, rape, etc)? Why would you want one? Those are the only good bits.
