It's not necessary to have a registry, but if you don't, you're going to get lots of silly gifts that you don't have any use for. Try Target or Bed Bath & Beyond. You could also just ask for cash gifts or you could choose a charity and ask that people donate to it instead of buying gifts.

Nothing is *necessary* other than a bride, a groom, an officiant, and two witnesses, but it's a good idea. Target would be a good idea, as would Linens N Things, Bed Bath & Beyond, and a national department store with online capabilities (Robinsons May/Filene's/Foley's/Meier & Frank/Lord & Taylor/Kaufmann's).
This way you can at least guide the invitees who know that they should give you a gift. But please, do not include any registry information in the invites. Put it on your wedding website or have the gossips in the family spread it via word of mouth.
Good luck to you and have a wonderful wedding and marriage! : )

Not necessary, but as a guest of many weddings, it does help with the "what to get them" blank hits.
Target has great stuff at a variety of prices and you can have fun with the registry. Same with Bed Bath & Beyond and Crate&Barrell.

Go to Target or Bed Bath and Beyond. But yes, you need to have a wedding registry for a small wedding. It lets people know what you want or what you need or what colors you are going to have in your house.

Its not necessary, but it might be helpful to people who are not sure how much money to give, and would prefer to buy a gift.
How about Target? The registry there is really nice. I registered at Macy's and Bed, Bath and Beyond, and chose extremely reasonable items I liked and was easy on the pocket.

Actually I suggest against Target and Walmart.
Bed, Bath, and Beyond is great for giving discounts, and they work with you. The quality of merchandise is very nice as well. Plus there are many different price ranges that are there.
We registered for 90% of our stuff there and know of many couples who went to Target first and regretted it later.
If it's casual, it may be still nice to your guest to register SOMEWHERE. It gives them a little help as to what to get you as a gift.
Let your guests spend as much as they want though. Don't require them to spend $100, but don't limit them to items of under $5.
Let them have some choice too.

no, I never had a registry. I don't like the idea of them becuase it makes it seem like you assume people will buy you gifts. Not everyone even gets a gift. I didnt get gifts from half the peopel at my wedding and I was fine with it. If people asked what to get I made out a little list of things we needed just so they had an idea, but that was it.

You don't *have* to do anything, but a registry is useful for a guest.
Target is a great one, as is William Sonoma or Pottery Barn. Just be aware of the price points of items (i.e. if you go with Pottery Barn, register for one or two high ticket items, and lots of throw cushions, candles, placemats etc) around the $25-$50 range.
