People can hunt for food, forage for food, grow their own food, trade for food from those that do hunt for food... There's plenty that can be done for food. Some of these areas have very little food, and consider it to be something that is to be shared and never wasted. There's also emergency relief aid for these areas where food is so scarce that the people are starving.
Sometimes they do starve... This is a sad fact of life.

Why is that the only thing I can buy? Do you mean that is all I can afford? Cause I wouldn't be spending it on a fly swatter! How about don't have kids? That's what I did when I couldn't afford them

I would do one of two things:
1. Try to get a job as a professional fly killer. Preferably to someone who can pay me well for the hard work that killing flies entails.
2. Fry up some bugs killed by my newly purchased fly swatter.

How about this...if you can't feed your kids don't have any...? If you live in a place where only fly swatters were available...move elsewhere? Your question is so weird...~J~ <><

But then again, most of the questions I've seen on here today have seemed pretty silly.
As people have already told you, we've been feeding our children for a good many years before there were grocery stores. And I'm sure that we'll be able to continue to do so....

I would make a primitive bow and shoot an animal, cook it over a fire started with a friction stick and feed the cooked meat to my kids.
You don't have to buy anything to eat well.

you could always grow your own food, scrounge in the forest, hunt. . . People have been feeding their kids a lot longer then there has been grocery stores!
