How do I convince my mom to let me have a parakeet?

Well, first of all I also had to convince my mom if I can have a parakeet too. It took a liitle research and patience til my mom finally said yes. She suprised me one day by bringing home a male and female parakeet. I suggest that you tell your mom that parakeets are very inexpensive, unlike parrots which cost hundreds of dollars. Parakeets are also tiny birds and require less cage space, than other bigger birds. They don't produce that much of an odor. Their cage can be cleaned every week. They are very easy to handle and tame. Most of all they can be even tught how to talk. So I suggest that you sit down with your mom and talk about how fun and easy it is to love and care for a loving parakeet. I hope my advice helped!!!! GOOOD Luck !!!!!!!

Find out lot's of facts about parakeets and share them with your mom. Then make and itemized list of how much upkeep, cages, toys, and other items will cost. Then explain to her that you will pay for it. You might cosider get a donating your time at a nursing home or local animal shelter and explain to her that if you can do that then you are plenty enogh responsible to get a parakeet!!!

tell her that it is an easy pet. Parakeets don't need to be walked, they are inexpensive and their food, care, toys are also inexpensive. They don't need to be bathed either and they don't smell. Promise that you will clean up the seed crumbs and feathers. I think you should get a cockatiel instead - better pet.

Tell her that you really want one & that you promise to keep the cage & the area around it clean. They can actually be very sweet birds.
