I don't think there are any certain breeds of dogs that are better at learning tricks, It's just how much time you devote to teaching and your ways of teaching, My dog's a mutt (German Shepperd/Collie) and I taught her how to count, Rollover, Give kisses on demand, Catch, Stand, Shake, Find my kittens on demand... It just takes time.

Any dog can learn some tricks, but poodles and terriers were famous as circus dogs. They can learn many things quickly and are very agile. The problem is getting a terrier to listen when YOU want him to do something! Read this book -

Well, most dogs are relatively smart. The big thing is how much time do you want to spend with them. The more time you spend working on tricks the better they are learning tricks. It really doesn't matter on the breed, just the amount of time you are willing to stick in.

Border collies are extremely intelligent but also high energy. Jack Russell also do well with tricks. Again, they are high energy.
A lot of it depends on the particular dog but some breeds are easier than others to train. Labs are also good but sighthounds (greyhounds, whippets, etc.) are notoriously stubborn to train.
How about a mutt? I have a mutt and she learns really quickly. My italian greyhound basically refuses to do anything he doesn't feel like doing!

All dogs can be trained, some are just more stubborn than others, or are trained wrong.
I don't know if you're just wondering this, or if you are looking to get a dog. But if you are looking to get a dog, don't get one based on if it is a good one to teach tricks to. Get one based on the whole package and how it fits your lifestyle.

We have a collie shepherd mix and so far we've been able to teach it to roll over, sit, heel, stay, play dead, and teach it 5 individually named toys.
There is a border collie out there who knows the difference between something like 500 individual commands. Which I've heard consistant about border collies: they are very smart and pick up commands very easy.

Alaskan Eskimos are known to be good at performing tricks. You used to see them in circuses all the time. They're a medium sized, white to fawn colored dog with longer hair. They're beautiful and very loyal. I had one - he was one of the best dogs I've ever had.
Australian Sheep Dogs are very, very smart too - those are probably the smartest dogs I've ever seen.
