I am a mother of 2...soon to be three and I will breast feed my baby, but this overpowering respect for my self and others tells me I should never pop my titty out in public and feed my screaming infant. Instead I have opted to prepare for trips away from home by pumping my milk and putting it into bottles. A little organization and preparation goes a long way. It is your responsibility as a mother to make sure your baby is fed before leaving home and not to be so self absorbed in shopping or what ever outing you are on that it gets to the point that your infant is screaming in hunger. Common sense tells you when you have a young baby.... plan short trips. Use your head and get over this self righteous power trip women have been on forever now. If you care that much about your baby you will plan your time around him not the other way around.

I'm with you to a point. Breastfeeding is a natural occurrence and is, in my opinion, one of the greatest gifts you can give your child (knock me all ya want, formula moms, but countless studies show the benefits). Just because something is natural, however, doesn't mean I think it's okay to do just anywhere. I don't want people watching me when I poop. With that said though, I see nothing wrong with a woman breastfeeding her child as long as I don't have to see her nipple. I DO think many women spend waaaay too much time out shopping when they've got a young baby. Maternity leave isn't meant for you to spend your days shopping for clothes, getting your nails done, and going to the movies. It's meant for you to raise your very needy baby.

I would rather a woman breast feed her baby in public than to listen to the poor child squall. Why do woman have to still lock themselves away at home in fear of offending someone by having to breast feed or change a dirty diaper? The problem is not the breast feeding but the obsession with the breast as a sexual object.

just because some ppl choose to nurse their infants when they are hungry, does not mean they are on a power trip. It also does not mean they dont care for their children! there is nothing wrong with a woman who feeds a child in public, but if you choose to feed your children with bottles, that your choice. not everybody agrees with you though, and the reason women have breasts is to feed their children. this is natures design, and there is nothing wrong or embarassing about it. I have nursed 3 children, in public at times, and it never bothered me to do so. grow up and stop acting like you have never seen a boob before!

The question should have been... Should stupid people be allowed to say that is it wrong to do the most humanly natural thing there is to do with a female breast when its okay for some super model to be posted on a 60 ft high billboard on the strip or in Times Square, half naked to sell a cell phone, some make-up or some shoes?

Yeah, of course they should be able to breast feed in public. It's one of those things that should be a non-issue... and then you hear people saying things like "it's sinful and shameful," usually after they try to hand you a Watchtower pamphlet.

i think mothers should not feed their baby in public,i was at a busy clinic and this Mexican lady just popped her boob out in front of everyone to feed her baby....i tried not to look but it was shocking to my eye that she would do something like this.....i seen this happen at a busy mall as well...whats wrong with walking to the bathroom to feed your baby, people just don't have any self-pride for themselves.....

I just feel sorry for your kids if they have to listen to rants like that all the time. What do you say when they leave their toys on the floor? And I wonder how warped their tolerance of other people is going to be.

I'm inclined to agree with you, that people should make more effort to work their schedules around their children, not their children around their schedules--although I still have no problem with discreet public breastfeeding. Nothin wrong with covering up with a cloth.
