I got one at the beach on Saturday...
You can start by taking an anti-inflammatory drug such as Motrin (Ibuprofen). This will help ease some discomfort.
You can also take a cold shower, or you can get a face cloth wet with cold water, wring it out and place it on the area.
After the cold water "treatment" apply a topical such as Banana Boat Sooth-A-Caine which has moisturizers, numbing agents in it (nothing scary!) and anti-itch ingredients. Or, try Solarcaine - which provides similar relief.
Other than the suggested ways to relieve a sunburn's discomfort, there is nothing you can do. You can't "cure" it and make it go away. You've caused damage to the skin and it must heal, so using after-sun products will help the healing process. It will peel no matter what you do! If this happened on your face, it is possible to reverse some skin damage with products on the market. Skin damage from UV rays cause premature aging AND CANCER. Recent studies have shown that the use of sunscreen - even after skin's been damaged by a burn - can STUNT the growth of cancerous cells (if you deprived them of more UV rays they might not grow).
Just something to consider! So use sunscreen every time!

Oooh sunburn is the WORST thing that you can have happen (imo). And as for healing it well aloe does work the best but if you absolutly cannot obtain any then I would recommend using some type of lotion with vitamin E and if you don't have any of that then you could always try an oatmeal bath (a milk bath may help as well) i did one year and it seemed to help a bit. But anyhow i hope you start feeling better soon sunburns are the worst.

Hi i am brandon and when i had gotten sunburned i stayed out of the sun because if you are in the sun after already being sunburn you have a small chance at getting cancer because of the sun rays. try to put a cold wash cloth on the sunburn spotand keep it there for a while. it feels good and your back will heal sooner without much pain

Solarcaine is absolutely the best product on the market. It does contain a little aloe vera to help soothe the skin, but the formula also contains lidocaine HCL which causes a numbing cool feeling. It helps prevent your skin from peeling/itching.
You can find it at any pharmacy, it is usually blue or green colored.

Take a bath towel and soak it cold water mixed with vinegar. Apply it to the sunburn. Make sure to keep it cold. Did this with my grand-daughter and it worked wonders/

You can try to keep your skin from peeling with moisturizer (unscented Lubriderm is good) and aloe, but the burn is damaged skin. It will take time to heal the wound. Make sure to wear sunscreen next time :)

If you don't want to use aloe you can put Noxzema on it to help cool it but it does keep the heat trapped in.
