This drunk driving arrest and spouting off about Jews wasnt the first time... Mel Gibson is a freakin' crazy man...South Park got that episode right when they showed Gibson running around with those wild eyes and crazy hair....Here are some more Gibson quotes:
• In 2004, after The New York Times' Frank Rich wrote a column saying The Passion of the Christ could fuel anti-Semitism abroad, Gibson told The New Yorker: "I want to kill him. I want his intestines on a stick. I want to kill his dog."
• In 2003, at a Passion screening for clergy members, he said the film was actually directed by the Holy Ghost. "I was just directing traffic."
• In a 2003 profile in The New Yorker, he was asked how he knew God wanted him to make The Passion: "There are signals. Signal graces, they're called. It's as clear as a traffic light. Bing! I mean, it just grabs you and you know you have to listen to that and you have to follow it."
Holy Ghost directing movies? CRAZY! Not very Christian like, eh???

Wait a sec now....he didnt make those other statements while drunk!! And one other thing - if the Holy Spirit made the Passion movie, that means that Gibson has no talent and doesnt deserve credit for the movie, doesnt it?? How come I didnt see the Holy Ghost mentioned in the end credits of the movie??

Of course he's anti-Semitic. Drunks say what they really believe. More to the point he is a drunk driver and could have killed someone on the road. If he did some of the idiots answering this question would say that it was okay.

First of all, Mel Gibson has publicly and almost immediately apologized for statements he makes, not just because of pressure, but because it's hearfelt. (which is better than most celebrities do that make mistakes).

Secondly, the film went after the religious and political establishments of the day, it was not the fact that they were jews. Who Christ (and Mel in his movie) went after were the religious leaders who were so entrenched in their rules that they could not understand the intent. It just happens that many of the critics actually had never even seen the story before criticizing it for being antisemitic.

As far as the comment about the Holy Spirit, you need to understand that a christian does look for guidance from above. Hey, the moral of this story was better than most of the junk coming out of Hollywood today.

And King David was an adulterer and murderer, Abraham lied about his wife, Jacob cheated his brother out of his birthright and Paul hunted down and imprisoned Christians. We all have feet of clay, screw up, make mistakes, do dumb things. But the difference is we are forgiven for all our stupidity and receive the grace of God, something atheists will never know, and we forgive and show grace to each other. By the way, Mr. Gibson is a Catholic, not a fundamentalist Christian, big difference.

I forgive Mel Gibson for any of his sins, because I believe He repents to God. If we confess our sin, He is just to forgive us our sin & cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Mel is a christian. God will discipline Mel when He messes up.

Mel is a work in progress. The Passion happened because God wanted it to happen. Mel was obedient to God.

I have all respect for Mel Gibson.

To all the faithful who read questions that do nothing but mock God and assault the Word of God:

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you for My sake. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven. They persecuted the prophets before you in the same say."
Matthew 5:11-12

"If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you."
1st Peter 4:14

"Hear me, you who know what is right; you people who have my law in your hearts: Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults." Isaiah 51:7

"You will be protected from the lash of the tonge, and need not fear when destruction comes to them." Job 5:21

You forgot homophobe. He is also on record saying nasty, bigoted things about LGBT people.
Of course, people who preach hatred, bigotry, discrimination and therefore violence against LGBT people cannot in any way be considered 'christian' anyway, but I thought I'd mention this as well.

I have never seen any of the movies he is associated with and I never will. My good money does not need to support hatred.

he is a catholic..... that is a different breed... not considered "fundamentalist"

i heard his fathe was a "holocaust denier," so early family influences may have given him a certain bias.

I did not see it, but i heard the Passion was a good movie, and true to the scriptures.... if so, the holy ghost may have had a contribution, but that would also mean it was not Mel's talent afterall.

Gibson is a Catholic, not a fundamentalist Christian. There's a world of difference there.

We "fundies" take the Bible seriously.

I was already pretty much through with him after the Passion movie, but now it's settled. I do hope that he gets some counselling and is able to search himself and find the root of his antisemitic feelings and rid himself of that.

Well isn't that wonderful...When we are on the brink of WWIII, I'm never more enthusastic by the timely press given to a story that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things than I am by this one.

HE'S A MAN, HE MADE A MISTAKE, HE'S ENTITLED TO HIS OPINION. GET OVER IT!!!
