If you are judging strictly by level of opposition I would have to say Manny Pacquiao has definitely stepped up and fought every one and anyone. He hasn't won every time but has avenged his key losses. He is definitely more likeable and more entertaining as he always goes forward and doesn't rely so much on his defense at least not as of yet. I believe Maywheather is a better all around fighter though. He has the defense, offense and has dominated good fighters in each division. I don't think he is dodging anyone but rather is taking big money fights as much as he can. The bigger draws a lot of times are fighters past their prime but who have proved theirselves like Mosley, De La Hoya and even Trinidad. Well Hatton might be a tougher fight, De La Hoya might be a better money maker. To his credit he has fought Judah, Kostya Zu, Gatti and others but I too would like the "super fights" with other undefeated fighters. Time will tell.

Mayweather hasn't really fought any good boxers? So you must not think highly of Castillo, Corrales or Judah, huh? If that's the case, you don't know a thing about boxing.
Pacquiao—one of my favorite fighters to watch—is in the top 10 right now, but Mayweather is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world today based on his unsurpassed boxing skill level, the guys he has beaten so far, the fact that he's UNDEFEATED, etc.

The Pacman is #1 definitely, you don't see Manny ducking anyone he is fighting allcomers in his division and proving he is the best pound for pound. Mayweather might be a very skillful boxer but someone who is being called the best pound for pound boxer has to go out and fight everyone who is put in front of him, and everybody knows he don't want any part of Margarito, you can virtually guarantee his next fight is Mosley who is a good fighter but someone who PBF knows he will beat easily, another celebrity fight, yeah so to sum up Pacquiao easily for me until Floyd wants to step up and prove me wrong.

neither... pacquiao is a good brawler but not good enough that he wont take a ko every now and then... and he looked suspect against larios. he would have never made it against morales or barrera in their primes. mayweather has skirted good competition to make easy fights because HBO hypes him as pound for pound best all the time.
even tho he isnt the most exciting guy to watch, i'ma go with winky wright as pound for pound the best right now, ask trinidad and mosley... mayweather does not want any part of winky...

I think mayweather just because his skill level is higher. He actually has fought some pretty good fighters, Juda, Gatti and he beat them with ease........
so I think he is better overall
the natural ability counts when it comes to p4p, its not all about who you fight, its how u fight. considering the fact that mayweather has gone up 4 divisions, winning titles in all 4 in 7 years (record time) and still dominates his fights, makes him p4p best. pacman is a good fighter, but aint as skilled.

you have a really good point! but i think, mayweather is still the no. 1 pound for pound fighter right now ... later, if PACMAN wins (hopefully) especially knocks out morales again in their third fight then PACMAN can become the no. 1 pound for pound fighter ... but again next year, if mayweather wins a superfight against mosley or de la hoya, there's going to be a lot of debates as to who will be the no. 1 pound for pound fighter ... i will definitely go for PACMAN!
