Could be a Plott Hound?
Plott Hounds are a breed of Coonhound and are hunting dogs bred to track their prey by scent and then tree the prey, and bark like crazy to alert the hunter that there's something in this here tree that needs to be shot.
As pets, coonhounds are gentle, affectionate and good with children and other dogs. However, all scenthounds can be difficult to train because they are naturally independent workers. Coonhounds also bark, and when they do, it is LOUD. Not all individuals bark a whole lot (though some do), but when they do bark you definately know it.
Please don't buy a dog from a backyard breeder or puppy mill, though. It just encourages their irresponsible breeding practices which contribute to dog overpopulation and the deaths of millions of homeless dogs every year in pounds and shelters. If you're interested in owning a coonhound, there are many coonhound rescues out there who will be happy to match you up with the perfect hound who needs a new home.

I just googled it and Plotz isnt a breed as far as I can see. Most of the entries were for Yiddish or David Plotz.

I have never heard a dog refered to as a plotz. Plotz means down in dog commands. I would call and ask.

I'm thinking propably that plotz is the name for some new cross-breed. Like Schnoodle, or Labradoodle, or Peek-a-Poo... etc. In other words, a fancy mutt.
