Anyone got any advice or experience they can share that might help with my decision? The dvd makes it all look very good fun in a boys own kind of way. But what is it REALLY like?

Its shite, you could be in 20 years and only get as far as Oldham, now its off to Iraq. The training is OK, the weapons are shite. You only get a partial pension if you cop it. Its 90% boredom, 10% fear and 10% action.

10 Years in the Army... Back in the bad old days 1976 to 1983 then 1983 to 9187 in the RAF. Good life lot of mates and hardwork. T/A just the same but part time so you local to your town and family. Be very aware that the T/A are the boys who work out in Iraq keeping the peace whilst the regulars are in other parts afghanistan and Bosina etc.

So it not all fun and games; you will be in some hard bad lands. I myself server 2 years in Northern Ireland and in the Falklands War we all have to do it some time but now is a bad time for conflicts; so just remember keep your boots clean and listen to the old boys when they say duck down they dont mean your bedding.

Best of Luck

Like off to Afghanistan or Iraq. That sort of fun. This government has starved the military of men and the tools do do the job. So you will be on the way as a target. Think careful. The brave boys out there joined up you don't have to.
