You're a loser, kid! Get past it, the military doesn't want you because you would more than likely introduce others in to the drug culture.
At 25, it's not too late to redeem yourself, but you would help your own cause by going back to school. Try Jr. College first, get used to the idea of education, again. The fact that you got your GED makes you a potential winner, because you qualify for college, without it, you would be a total loser.
Criminal justice is a big field today. Granted it's not the military, but it has a lot to do with national security. You can go in a lot of different directions with that degree. Cover up those damned tattoos, they will not help your future career.

Well, it ain't the tatoos. Specifically, it IS the misdemeanors that have to do with dope. My suggestion is to go back and see that recruiter, (or another) have some letters of recommendation in hand by people who know you (they don't have to be important, just honest) and somehow get the message to him that you were young, stupid, bored, hung out with the wrong crowd (the only neighborhood crowd you knew all your life), were misguided, misdirected, neglected abused or whatever truthful but unfortunate story you can come up with that will help you prove you have "changed" or "rose above it all" and want to make and do something with your life and desperate for training and to belong to something bigger that life itself. The military want good people, disciplined and able to follow "orders" by rank. They know young people do dumb things, they expect it. Just don't lie on any form they ask you to fill out. Never. They accept people who have done stupid things. What they don't want is a problem child with an attitude. Dope and trust don't mix but never lie them and they are not about ot take on "problems." Prove you are not a problem, not going to be a problem and are good enough to become a member of the best Army in the world. Miracles DO happen and you could be one of them (I've seen it). If you really want this it is worth the try. Persevere and if at first you don't succeed, try again. Do some volunteer work in the meantime. Show your stuff, if you've got it. It's what they want . Show them the difference from what you were to what you are and want to become. Do this and you just may become a future soldier. It's a step in the right direction and by doing the above you will have taken the right step to prove it.. Good luck!.

The tattoos shouldn't be an issue, they may just be saying that. I know a guy that enlisted that had full sleeves on both arms. I'm sure it has more to do with the crimes committed in the past. I know that the army will kick you out for the same misdemeanors, so I can see why they wouldn't recruit you. I agree though, if you are willing to join and are trying to prove yourself then they should let you in.

I know the Air Force is kicking out people with tatoos that are 'exposed' while in uniform. I believe that is part of an all out effort to reduce the force by 40,000 over the next several years. Yeah incase you didn't know, we are starting another draw down. So why would they enlist someone that meets requirements to be released?.
Give it a couple years until they realize they release to many....

Sorry that you cant join. However I recommend that you contact your senator and explain these circumstances. As somone who worked with recruiters in the past this is my suggestion. Make sure you take the time to contact your senator! I almost gurantee you will then get in. Mistakes shouldnt haunt you for the rest of your life.

They will soon enough. They used to not let kids in who were not High School Graduates, that isn't true anymore! That kid who was beheaded from the 101st from Texas was trying to get a GED!

they might think that you are too old. they can recuirt 18 yr olds with no tats or previous, records, and still be able to break them down and rebuild them better than a willing 25 yr old.

You have to make an appointment to see your congressman, who can submit an appeal. Also I urge you to stop with tattoos, they are condemned in the bible.
