Why do people have sex before marrage???

I'm a true, evagelical, bible-believing christain, and don't know why people have sex before marrage? I think it'd be better if I waited untill marrage (Still virgin). Why do so many people do this so many times?

As humans we are sexual beings, sure God gave man this special gift but it has been twisted---have you seen the stats. pertaining to misbehavior--1 in 4 has AIDS will you be lucky to avoid getting it? Stay pure because once you lose your virginity you will never be the same and those that are not virgins will never be like you. Ask any guy whom they prefer as a wife---a virgin or an experienced girl.
Still, when one is in the moment of passion (getting excited) it is difficult to think about your values although you should avoid getting into such a situation if you do not want to get tempted---most people fall to their sexual needs. Lack of responsibility and self-control . You do not have to go out and become sexually active to find the one you seek---let God help you. Learning together will be more fun during your marriage; being sexually active means nothing it only prevents you (any person) from developing a true loving relationship.
Look at the stats. on marriage and divorce---53% of marriages end in divorce, if sex is everything or the only thing that brings a couple together it will get old and then what? I wish I could have waited but back then I was not a believer you have this option. Youth as many rewards but it also has many downfalls.

I'm a preacher's kid so I'll take a whack at this one.

A. Nothing in the bible says that you should wait till marriage, not in the new testament at least. And marriages by old testament rules were usually when the girl was about 13 or so. Not a long time to wait, is it. Not to mention marriages were arranged.

B. Nothing kills a marriage faster than a bad sex life. You'll probably end up having sex a LOT through your life. Study it, examine it, learn from it.

C. Relationships. Its all well and good to say you are going to 'wait till marriage' Great. you've waited till marriage, now what are you going to do? Think fast, you've only committed the rest of your life to this person. What are you going to do if SHE hasn't waited till marriage and wants you to blindfold her sometimes. Call her a heathen and a sinner cause she openly told you what pleased her. or Him as the case may be.

I'll cut the rant short, but I think the biggest disservice that our parents do is NOT talk freely and openly about sex with our children.

The first time I had sex, I don't think 50 marines and 50 navy seals and the pope could have stopped me. We were making one of those pizza kit things, and got cooking oil on our hands, next we started rubbing the oil on each other ...one thing led to another and we were in the water-bed listening to the Moody Blues, "On the Threshold of a Dream". What could be more natural and beautiful than that? We evolved over millions of years to have these things called brains and hormones. They are ingrained and programmed for us to reproduce. Without reproduction we would cease as a species - extinction. Marriage on the other hand is a man made institution that often ends in divorce. Conclusion, man made institutions cannot compete with Mother Nature. Exception, man can destroy mother nature like we are doing right now with Global Warming. Maybe you should take that up as a cause, before there is no place left for Evangelicals to practice their celibacy.

well, people dont care about what the bible says, they care about what their sex drive says. It pleasure, its fun and its what people want. I dont dissagree with you where you are standing, but i have friends that already have done this and like it. Plus, marriage is so far away and men are ready for sex when they are 15 sometimes younger, and to wait for no reason (if not a christian) for 10 years sometimes, is CRAZY, especially if you can get it. Stay a virgine if you want, im not saying i am or am not, cause your a complete stranger that doesnt need to know.

Sociologically the age of marriage is gone up,the reasons being various.Maybe this is the reason for people wanting to engage in physical intimacy before a formal committment.Also,things change after a period of time,the individuality,egos come between the two,sometimes genuine reasons,and they fall apart as no formal committment is there for the survival of such relationship.
Teenagers are following the role models surrounding them.

Because people's lives belong to them and people's beliefs are different and just because you think one way doesn't make your way the right way, that's just the way you live.. Shouldn't make people feel less then you because of your beliefs and your religion...
I am not a church person or a religious person and frankly think its all crap, but that's me and I dont make my way seem the right way...don't judge others and others wont judge you...

Because we live in a country that guarantees separation of church and state and single people are protected from radicals like you wishing to impose your beliefs on others.
Two, consenting adults have the right in this country to do as they wish. It is my RIGHT as a free person in this country to have intimate relations with another free, consenting adult. Why is it what others do have any affect on you life? You need to be concerned about your life, not others'.
You're a bible believing christian huh? Have you read the book Misquoting Jesus yet? Read it and then we'll see how much you believe in the bible then.

It rather seems more realistic to have sex with someone when it feels right, rather than following the guidelines of a book written a bazillion years ago (which btw, the bible isn't honest truth from "god", as it's been re-written constantly by second hand people. Plus, life is way different than it was a bazillion years ago, why continue doin the same shet?)

Well i have to say that I'm guilty of premarital sex. But now I'm a REAL Christian and I'm doing the best as humanly possible to follow the word and I'm lovin' it. When i did it, i knew that it was wrong, but i pushed it out of mind, and pretended that i was doing anything wrong. Most of the time people in gage in premarital sex because Books, movies, and magazines promote it. They make it seem like it's okay. But I've come to learn that just because something seems to be right socially right, it doesn't make it right in Jesus' eyes and that's what matters most.

Because it's natural and especially when you love someone you want to have sex. Also, cause its fun and people don't think it has consequences or that its a big deal to wait. I'm waiting. I'm a Christian too...I just have a lot of friends who are sexually active and I, myself have been tempted, so I understand why people do.
