I blame my anti-Semitic statements on my bad back.
My colitis is responsible for my anti-American diatribes.
My anti-Christian statements are usually motivated by my love of birds.
I only blame my promiscuity on my alcohol consumption.
My love of weed is to blame for my obesity.
Everything I hate is someone Else's responsibility.
Mel is just towing our cultural line.

So far what I've been able to understand from the responses is:
1) We all make little mistakes like anti-Semitic tirades. Christians aren't perfect after all...
2) Mel Gibson is not a true Christian (or no boy of mine).
Wow... I'm not sure which one is more laughable. If Mel Gibson isn't a Christian and furthermore a torch-bearer for Christianity, then I don't know who is. And that you can excuse anti-Semitic garbage as just an 'imperfection' is amazing.
I love it when Christians say 'we're only human; why do you think we're perfect?' in one breath and condemn all non-believers as hedonistic, immoral beasts in another breath...
Nobody's implying perfection. An imperfect person like myself manages to avoid anti-Semitism...

Evidently, by what you state, there is some clarification necessary.
Whether Mel Gibson is a Christian, I don't know. However, everybody must keep one thing is mind, Christians are not perfect. 1 John 1:9, "if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Let me remind you I am not making excuses for him, he just demonstrated his sinful nature is still present. Read Galatians 5:16-26, Christians have two competing natures, the old sinful nature and the new nature as indwelt by God's Holy Spirit. Christians struggle with this everyday, but we have the knowledge of forgiveness if we are honest with God. I wonder do you have this wonderful promise?

He's not exactly "my boy" but he did mess up. However he has never made it a secret that he has issues he's always trying to work on.
I know that I mess up every day but because I'm not a movie star, everything I say doesn't get broadcast on the news. Thank goodness for that!
I do agree that just because he was drunk was no excuse. If you say something when you're drunk, to me it means it's in your heart, you just normally don't have the guts to say it.
In a Hollywood with so many Jewish people, I'm sure this is going to really hurt his career.

Is he really anti-Semitic by portraying the truth? I think Jews just feel bad about what they did to an innocent man and want to blame Mel Gibson for it.

Alcoholism is a disease that is just as hard to quit as smoking is. Yes he made some bad remarks but wait do tell us just how many remarks have you made about other people or religions? And the reason you are not on the chopping block is because you are not famous like he is. So until you clean your own closet out don't start thinking you have the right to judge others. That's why all you so called Christians think you are the only ones here on earth who are worth a damn. WRONG AGAIN DUMBA$$.
Boy people sure don't want to mess up with idiots like you around do they, you just jump on them like no tomorrow.
Gezzzzzzzzzz you people make me want to scream sometimes.

Yay! My little cup friend is back!
I am thinking Mel Gibson would just be great to go drinking with what a fun guy! Maybe I could get him, Danny Bonaduce, and Nick Nolte to go down to the local watering hole for a few laughs.

He's always been an anti-Semite and my guess is he always will be. Those thoughts are ingrained in him and he learned them from his father.
From personal experience and from being around other drunk folks, i know when people are drunk they say what they really believe. That's what usually gets them in trouble.
His movie had hard hints about his Semetic views and his drunken stupor just solidified it.

Mel Gibson isn't a christian. A christian doesn't get drunk and drive at a high speed endangering other lives.

Everybody is human and we all make mistakes and will have to pay for what we did....it doesn't change how I feel about him. Looks like when somebody does something pertaining to God....the public looks for fault in that person and then expose them to the world!!!! Well I'm not discouraged because as long as we are in this earthly vessel we will sin! We just have to repent and go on with our lives.
