My opinion a connection with God is a belief in him that allows you to go through your life with a sense of peace and belonging. When you have a connection with God you know that you have someone that cares for you and no matter what will never leave you. It means that in you darkest hours and in your best moments you know that you are never alone.

Well when I think of "connecting" I guess the thing that comes most to mind is prayer. When I am praying, and really taking my time to look to see what is there to say..not rushing through it, I feel a connection to God.

I can also feel that way, though, just out of the blue. Like, one day I was crossing the bridge across a little lake where I live. It was such a pleasant day. I paused and looked over across the lake. There was a white heron in the distance, at the edge of the water. The trees were green, the flowers were so pretty, the sky was so blue. It was like the holy spirit spoke to my heart this bible verse: "be still....and know that I am God".

So beautiful. That truly was a "connection"!

I liked some of the answers to your question, but I think I can add something to them. Does "connecting to God" just mean having good feelings about yourself and the world? Or is there a tangible change in character that an objective observer can discern in one who has a connection to God? What does someone who is connected to God do, act like, refrain from doing, etc?

If we can agree that God is the Supreme Spirit and that each of us are His eternal servants, then a connection to God when then mean that we would be 100% engaged in the Lord's service, ie, constantly glorifying Him, hearing His glories, remembering Him always and everywhere, praying, serving Him in many ways according to His desire, etc.

In the Vedic tradition, the spiritual aspirant has ample opportunity to engage as the Lord's servant since the Vedic scriptures contain vivid descriptions of the Lord's names, forms, activities, pastimes, abodes, associates, etc. By having so much information about the Lord, he/she is able to replace the mundane hearing and talking that most people in this world are immersed in with transcendental glorification of the Lord and His holy names. This gradually purifies the consciousness of all material contamination and brings us into direct contact with the Lord, who is situated in the heart of all living beings. At that time the servant of the Lord is filled with transendental ecstacy and there is no chance of his becomming attracted again to the mundane sphere.

So the objective proof of one who has a connection to God is that he/she doesn't indulge in mundane talk, avoids wasting time in anything not in relation to the service of the Lord and is always cent percent engaged in hearing, glorifying, and serving the Lord. This to me is what is meant by a "connection to God".

You can connect with God by reading the Bible or praying in the Holy Spirit or in praise and worship.

When you ask JESUS to come into your HEART (Spiritman) and SAVE (Recreate) you, the HOLY SPIRIT come's in too, after your Recreated. The Holy Spirit live's inside of the Believer's Spiritman, and EVERY Born-Again Child of GOD is CONNECTED to the CREATOR (Holy Spirit). HE is in there, Believe it.
Wether you feel anything at time's is just FEELING's, and they come and go for a multitude of reason's. We go by what the Word of GOD say's, GOD live's inside of all of HIS Children.
Now, if you want to operate in Deeper Thing's of the Spirit, you will have to Seek, Learn and Study and Put into Operation DILIGENTLY (every day) what you have Learned, through your Study of the BIBLE, Leading and Guiding of the HOLY SPIRIT, teaching tape's, cd's, preaching and teaching from GOD's Minister's (five-fold Ministry), so on so on and Learn to Walk with GOD, hope this helps.

To be one with God. When you walk with God, pray (to draw nearer), read His word, praise and worship; your connection with God Our Father and Jesus will get stronger as each day passes.

You connect with God/Jesus when you are doing His will, praying His will etc.

You might ask, how do I know it's His will? If it glorifies God/Jesus and His Kingdom...it's most likely His will. If it doesn't, it's probably your will and that's completely different.

A loving relationship with Him...not one where you recite verses or prepared prayers...one that believes Christ died on the cross for MY sin and that God raised him from the dead. You should talk to God EVERY day, all day as a gentle father...THAT's true connection.

To me, connecting with God is when you feel his presence, when you are able to interpret things for his will not your own. When you start to understand the why's of the world. It involves faith in God without proof, yet when you start off with that true faith, he does usually gives you your own proof.

Connecting with God, is to be sufficiently humble that you are in tune with the spirit, to be freely lead down the path of righteousness.
