How long it takes to get medicaid?

You need to go to social services, see a caseworker, and apply. I believe it is income based, so bring proof of income - a month's worth of pay stubs should do it. HOWEVER, many doctors do not take straight medicaid, so try to get a medicaid HMO if you can. It can take up to 90 days, but they can push it thru for an emergency such as a hospitalization for an uninsured person.

If you don't qualify for medicaid, see about Family Health Plus or Child Health Plus. It's state subsidized insurance that you pay a premium on, and the amount you pay is based on your income.
