Butter creme is a vanilla flavor icing. I think that it is just thicker than traditional vanilla and with a little bit more taste to it.
I would use a chocolate or caramel if you want to mix them with each other. If you are doing a recipe that calls for vanilla and another flavor, then I would use the butter creme and something else. Better flavor than the vanilla.

Honey, buttercreme goes with everything! There is no rule that syas you have to have white on white. Trust yourself! it will be delicious!
