Dogs in the same pack fight because they are messed up psychologly. Dogs who have a good strong pack leader do not fight.
the neutering may help ar not help at all...it all depends on how you deal with the problem. The only thing you can do is to be calm and firm. Thats who dogs listen to, they wont listen to a weak owner.
First off get someone who is strong enough to handle pitt bulls. They may be small but they have a trumendous about of power. (If you dont stop this now, I can guarantee you that this problem will escalte, to maybe a daethmatch)

Take each dog for a walk seperatly, so you can have better control of the dog, (when you have to aggresive pitt bulls you have to be the dominant one 100% , you must knoe dog psychology form A-Z)
After the walk bring them closer together,( you must have 100% percent control of the dog) If dog looks at other dog, even for a second, correct him, this is sign of aggression. Dog must pay attention to pack leader, not other dog, Once they are calm submissive to the scent of each other, bring them closer. ( DOG MUST PAY ATTENTION TO PACK LEADER AND ONLY PACK LEADER) If dog acts up, stop correct him until he's laying calmly. If dog bites, make him roll to the side ( ultimate form of submission) bring them closer, correct any grouwls, looks, pulling, before you bring them together. If dogs fight make them roll to the side (the one who starts it goes first)
If you done it correctly dogs may be at peace in about 10 minutes. Once they are completly calm together, they must be calm in the walk. Dogs must be behind you or in the side of you, if they go in front of you, not only the are dominate over you, they may start a fight.
Be patiant and have 100% control of the dogs. If done correctly, you'll see results in the first day.

Neutering may or may not help with this problem as even females will vie for the alpha position. They got along when the younger one was a puppy because he wasn't a threat to the older male but now that he's a year old he is a threat. They are essentially fighting for the alpha position. This could be very dangerous with two pitts. You need to consult a professional animal behaviorist immediately! (Look them up in your Yellow Pages or ask your vet for recommendations.) Ultimately, you may have to come to terms with the fact that you have to give one of them up.

These dogs may never live together again peacefully.
WHat you have is same sex aggression and it is a very common problem. Even if you neuter these dogs you may still have fights, Most likely one will kill the other before they stop unless you do something.
You are going to have to keep them seperate or place one dog in another home.
With an assertive aggressive dominant breed of dog, and you have that type of breed you can not keep two males together and have peace in the house. It is even worse if they are intact.
Place one or keep them apart forever or you will have dogs fights and that is not fair to either dog.

Get them neutered. Then put collars on them with your phone number and address on tags so that if either of them runs away, you can get him back. While they're away at the vets getting neutered, build a fence around your yard, or get two tie out stakes and 2 30' lengths of cable tie-out material and make sure that your dogs can't run away.

Pit bulls are bred to be dog-aggressive, and if they weren't properly bred or socialized, or even if they had a traumatic event (you don't know what happened to your dog when he was gone), this tendency can come out. They will fight to the death if they feel they need to. It's just what they were bred to do and there's nothing you can do to change them. If after getting them both neutered (and keeping them apart to recover), and them both being at home, getting good food, lots of attention, walks, etc etc, and giving them enough time to get the hormones out of their system (up to 6 months), they are still fighting, then you will need to rehome one of them for the safety of both of them.

In the meantime, when they fight, do not try to get between them. Do not give either one of them a command to stop, because neither will listen, but if they do, the one who stops will be seen as weak by the other and likely attacked even worse next time. Get the hose and spray them with the water, or throw a cushion at them, something to break them up without risking yourself. Then put them in seperate rooms, and ignore both of them until they're calm.

Good luck.

get em nutered or keep em separated, dogs around that age is filled with male hormones and is in need to be the dominant one of teh house and since they re pitts they re even more agressive so get em nutered or they might start attacking you

The problem is that they are not nuetered...my two boys do the same thing from time to time although they aren't as bad as they used to be...it is a common male dominance sort of thing they are fighting over their "territory"

1. Neuter your dogs!
2. Respect their heirarchy (sp?) so whoever is the alpha male, be sure to respect that (such as feed the alpha male first, pet the alpha male first etc.)

neuter them. their testosterone energy is making them fight!
and doing so helps reduce the urine spraying drastically.
