I'm a single father of a 5 year old and I find it difficult to set up a 'play group' for my son for his peers because I, mostly, am contacting single mother who assume I'm trying to 'hit on them' by using my kid! So, to avoid this, I thought why couldn't some single fathers and their kids get together in a park/playground/fun center so that the kids can play and interact with each other. Would this seem too weird for men to do? Why?

Yes, but it depends on what area you're in. If you're in a large city your odds go up a lot.

If you can't find one, talk to some other single fathers and see if you can start one up yourself!

So you're saying that you're a gay father who wants to hit on other single fathers. It's okay, dude, just accept who you are.
