I picture it as a small New England town, and it's usually autumn, except when, now and then, it's spring, or around the holidays, it snows.

The people you love all live within walking distance, and, just like in South Park, Jesus has a little house in town where you can drop by any time to chat with him about anything that you'd like him to shed light on.

All our pets are there, too, and they all get along (finally!), and you can alter your shape at will. There's a special theatre in town where episodes from Earthly Life play out, but this time with subtitles to explain what it was all about, and what the reason for everything was.

In the evenings, there are barbecues with long wooden tables set out under the trees, with dancing after dinner until the stars come out. We sleep soundly and safely in our beds at night, but dreams are no longer necessary. Each will live out his dream in peace.

Yes, I guess that's about it!

I get the idea that heaven is much as we see today, just better and most of that is because WE are different. The stories I've heard of people in those near-death-experiences or those with visions, or even me in my dreams, picture a truly pristine place with vivid colors. Things are on a grand scale, truly massive and expansive.

But some of the images are different. The Bible gives some differences, describing the time of the ruling Messiah as here on earth (several Old Testament prophets), while in other places (early in Revelation particularly), heaven is as an unimaginably massive floor (think "firmament" from Genesis as the King James Version words it), which in one place is referred to as a "crystal sea". A grandly bright place is in the middle, as if a star, though I usually picture an enormous laser-beam style column of light, which is the central place and presence of God himself. Surrounding Him, at a comparatively close, yet large distance are the special places of respect for His chosen leaders which He honors from there. Surrounding that is a crowd of His created beings, not all, perhaps even most, are distinctly not human. I see towering angels flying about somewhat as the early moments in Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark when the ark is opened, but more solid, more real. Yet there are those who are distinctly more like humans, but still definitely different. Yet there are creatures that would George Lucas would have hoped to imagine for the far flung worlds of his Star Wars fiction, not ugly or grotesque, just strange and different. This is the heaven before the final regeneration, as Revelation says near the end, "a new heaven and a new earth."

The differences are mostly with us. We don't get old and decrepit. We don't fight and argue, hit and hurt. We won't experience hunger and disease or pain as we do now. We don't lie and cheat and steal. We don't have to flee fires and storms and earthquakes, superman without pain and struggle. Those are the images of heaven to me.

I believe that with my limited human understanding, I can't even imagine what heaven will be like. The bible tells us that someone who did see heaven for a moment (I'm sorry, I can't remember if it was John or Paul)...they could not describe it, since no human words can describe the glories that he saw.

The one thing I do think is, it will be a place where I will never again have a migraine headache, I will never worry or be anxious or feel lonely again. There will be no more suffering or anger or death or sorrow or wars.

And I will see my dad again, and we will be together for the rest of time, finally one in Christ.

Heaven
What does the Bible say about heaven? It's in the Bible, John 14:2-3, NIV. "There are many homes up there where my Father lives, and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready, then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with me where I am."

Heaven is beyond our comprehension. It's in the Bible, I Corinthians 2:9, NIV. "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him."

How did Isaiah describe heaven? It's in the Bible, Isaiah 65:21-23, NIV. "They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; My chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them."

Peace will pervade even the animal kingdom. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 65:25, NIV. "The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy in all My holy mountain."

The handicapped will be healed. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 35:5-6, NIV. "Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb shout for joy."

God will live with His people and there will be an end to death, crying, and pain. It's in the Bible, Revelation 21:3-4, NIV. "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

I once heard on a t.v show with people who had died and were brought back to life that earth is like the negative to the picture of heaven. It is bright and gleaming with beauty. The person who said this changed there life completely. She didn't get upset over things, and she lived completely for the Lord. There were others who had the same outcome. Some were luke warm, but after an encounter with Jesus they were on fire. But who would be able to be cold once coming face to face with such glory.

Hopefully... It has seperate compartments so I don't have to spend eternity with the Religious OR the atheists. They make strange bed fellows and even worse neighbors!

Heaven for me, will be a place where every minute piece of spirit will be actualized over the weight and restrictions of the flesh. I long to be free from all of this...!

Heaven for me will be an eternity of spirit school and Jesus is my Rabbi and my homeboy! While listening to "All you need is love." in the elevators between classes...

Depend on which book you read and believe. Having 72 virgins in heaven while the penises blown into pieces on earth wouldn't give those suicide bombers any fun.

Would you really required to "live" forever without returning to earth?

Earth is a happening place, it has heaven and hell ! When earthquake or tsunami come, that's hell..

If we are together frolicking at the beach, cool beers with BBQ cuisine. That's certainly heaven!

I think that Heaven is a place where there is absolutely no pain and no sadness. I cannot fully imagine what it will be like to be in the presence of GOD in all of His glory. His glory is more amazing than anything we can fully wrap our minds around here on earth.

We will be reunited with others believers who got there before us. We will be surrounded, forever, in love -- in a place where there is no sin and sadness.

I've always wondered what we will be doing in Heaven -- but I don't think we will be sitting around on clouds eating cream cheese!

to answer this i believe there is no heaven. its something that people cling on to their entire life span hoping to get there just to realize that it was nothing more than a beautiful picture that they painted up inside there heads. i think some people need to believe in heaven it often gives them some sense of self accomplishment or the satisfaction of feeling that your going to heaven when they die.

I believe both heaven and hell are states of mind. And depending how you live your life; what kind of person you are, and what goes on in your head will decide where you will spend your eternity.

I expect for my heaven to be a lovely place.
