The "right" age to get a bf/gf is when you feel that you are responsible and mature, not because everyone else your age is doing it.
I think that 11 years old is a bit young, but if you find a boy that has caught your interest, I say go for it.

It depends what a boyfriend means. Is having a boyfriend like having a new girlfriend that you hang around with. Does it mean to your social circle that when you say you are girlfriend and boyfriend that you are like a pair of mittens or shoes...they are alike and go together? If thats the case then having a boyfriend at 11 is cool with this 47 year old mother of 4.
On the other hand if having a boyfriend means more than a sweet kiss (peck) or holding hands, sitting next to each other, or no longer hanging with your girlfriends and doing girl things than YES she is TOO YOUNG.
Tell your friend she has plenty of time later in life to have boyfriends but only a short time to build childhood friendships which later will mean the world to her. After all who will be there when she gets her heart broken by one of these boyfriends. My bet will be a girlfriend.

It may be like my first boyfriend (I was 13). Our parents would let us go over to the other's house (when parents were there!!), we might hold hands, or make quick pecking kisses. I don't know if we ever went out anywere together...if we did it was with one of our parents with us. I think 11 is too young to really have a committed relationship. But it may be just the right thing to be really good compatible friends, and at 11 years old, they might be confusing romantic love with the fact that they just plain get along so well!

Wow. Here's the deal on that. 11 is much too young to have a boyfriend. I know there is peer pressure and you want to be included on all these new "cool" experiences. But having a boyfriend is not like buying a new bike. Boyfriends are there to have fun with and joke around with and be supportive of. It is supposed to feel good to you. If you feel that way about someone, then have one, but DON'T have sex until later!!! At least 16 or later (college preferably), PLEASE! There are just so many complications and deep emotions that come with that, as well as the obvious: pregnancy. Just don't go there...
If you alone feel ready and you like someone and he likes you, then hang out, share drinks and food, and hold hands and little easy stuff. If he EVER pressures you into anything you feel uncomfortable with, ditch him. He is not thinking about you at that point and that is what it is all about. Respect and having fun. You are more important to yourself than any dude out there.

Yes, I think it's too young. If all they do is talk on the phone or go to the movies in a group, then it's ok.
If anything else goes on, then I'd say...too young.
