Don't come down on the music, the music didn't physically make anyone do anything. The majority of people who listen to whatever type of music do not resort to crime because of the music. Something else happened there. Rationalization, parental supervision and rearing, mental/emotional issues, association/peer pressure, and opportunity.
Place blame where the truth is and the blame is due on and it isn't the music.

Look, the point is that kids do things beyond their parents' control. Some parents do let their kids listen to violent music or watch violent content in movies. But that doesn't mean many parents do.

This is a separate issue, but I would challenge the notion that listening to rap or hip-hop causes a person to commit violent acts. Violent acts existed long before rap came about, and "gangsta rap" was a portrayal of what already existed. It would continue to exist with or without the music.

Music has been touted as being the cause of everything.
In the 20s the Charleston/jazz was the cause of the loss of modesty.and moral decay,In the 50s rock and roll was the cause of polio and we were going to hell by listening to it,in the 60s the Beatles and hippy music was going to cause all young people to become mindless and join a cult,we wont even talk about the 70s you know disco killed us all.
Its easy to blame music for your own failings as a parent,much easier than taking responsibility . Rap music is just another form of rebellious music that our parents are going to place blame. Crimes have been and will continue to be committed by criminals. They are not "pushed" into it by rap or any other music.
Stop placing blame on music and blame the criminals that commit the crimes out of greed,anger ,hate and just in general being bad people.
I love all types of music I am a white,married,(over 35yrs) own my own business,college educated woman and I listen to Kayne West,Beethoven,R & B,country and all other gerns of music. Blame the crimanal not the music

oh gosh you can not blame the music OK some music can be out of order and rancid but that is up to the parent not to have it in the house
most parents now days can not be bothered to look after there youths it is more easy for them to let there youth walk the streets
that's when there is trouble were they meet up with other youths and then crash bang wallop trouble
some parents just don't have the time or patience for there kids
the kids get rude and get bad tempers and start on there parents
the parent can not do nothing to stop there out bursts because the youth more than lightly would have there parents sent to jail for trying to stop them getting out of control
i do not believe it is the music i think youths get to much of there own way and i think they think everyone Else owes them

Parents of today want to be their kids friend, and not the responsible parent. Black music doesn't cause kids to commit crimes, though it is a bad influence on growing minds. I don't think kids should exposed to such violent and sexually explicit music though.

I agree. It does nothing but incite violence. When a kid listens to nothing but cop-killing, 7/11 jacking, wife-beating, more cop-killing, etc, what do we expect when they actually go out and do what their heroes do?
