I'm almost sixteen & love fitness and diets, etc. (not huge muscles just toned) I was thinking of ways to stay in shape and have fun and something to punch would be nice at times. So I started thinking of boxing. My mom is scared I'll get hurt but if I really wanted to her and dad would support me. How much does it cost to get started and is there anything I should be worried about b4 I get too into it

Amateur boxing is very safe and the instances of athletes getting injured are rare. The cost varies - some gyms don't charge much and others, generally not amateur-oriented, might charge a lot. Many youth programs' fees are reasonable. You should find a gym in your area that trains in the amateur style and who has USA Boxing certified trainers available. I'll be happy to send you a contact for your area. Please email me at mel@amateurboxing.com and let me know what city and state you live in.

As a Trainer of many woman fighters let me tell you, there is no better workout in the world than good boxing workout. Boxing isn't for everyone remember this YOU CAN PLAY FOOTBALL,BASKETBALL,HOCKEY,VOLLEYBALL and CHECKERS BUT, YOU CAN NOT PLAY BOXING do it for a workout and if you like it find a legitimate Trainer that will show the ropes and he/she will point you in the right direction. Good luck to you.

Go for it! It's very good work out, especially the abs work out :-) However I dunno if you will think it's fun after you get punch in the face for first time. boxers hit REALLY HARD!!! So only real way to find out is to go and try it.
