One of my biggest fears is going to the dentist.. I know, it's pretty funny but I have had some TERRIBLE experiences and it's just kinda scary for me. I know that I have a couple cavities that need to be filled and I have some other issues that need to be taken care of. But everytime I even think about going I get nautious and it's hard to explain. What should I do?

I am personally terrified of the dentist too..unfortunately no matter how well i take care of my teeth i always end up with problems, i have a visit tomorrow for a root canal...the thing is, if you don't go to the dentist, the little problems get worse, till there harder to fix...I found a place in my area called a dental spa...massaging chairs, neck wraps..the whole 9 yards free of charge. Now a days there is no pain associated with dentists, only slight discomfort, and well fear..the tenser you are the more uncomfortable you will be. I say just swallow the fear like i had to, take a mp3 player or a CD player find a dentist your comfortable with and then in no time at all your teeth will be good as new..and then you can procrastinate going back till more problems arrive.

Dental-phobia can be tough. What you should do is just start looking around. You don't have to schedule anything no your first visit. Just ask for a consultation and start interviewing dentists in your area. I'm sure that once you find a dentist that you are comfortable with and feel you can trust it will be easier for the dentist to work with you to alleviate your fears. Dentists really just want to help you and keep you healthy. They are very accomodating to those who are apprehensive (if you find the right ones). So, dont' be afraid to interview dentists! If any of them decide to take any radiographs (x-rays) at your first visit (although I wouldn't recommend it until you make your final decision, and then have it done by the dentist you choose) ask them to take DUPLICATE films so that you can have your own copy for any other office you may go to.

Hope this helps.

Blessings and Light!
